The nurse should find out how irregular and how rapid is the heart rate in deciding on the type of care for this condition to decrease the chances of stroke or other heart disease. Depending on the severity of the heart rate irregularity, she may choose stroke-reducing medications, medications to control the fibrillations, electric shock treatment, and having a pace<span>maker fitted for example. </span>
