The correct answer is C. Noncommunicable diseases can be transmitted from one person to another.

Explanation:

In health, noncommunicable diseases include diseases such as diabetes, Parkinson, osteoporosis, and even cancer that cannot be transmitted from one person to another and are therefore classified as noncommunicable or noncontagious. These diseases include mainly chronic diseases that can lead to death or make body systems to fail, for example, heart diseases are one of type of noncommunicable diseases that cause more deaths all around the world as they lead to fails in the circulatory system. Also, these diseases often develop over time this is the case of osteoporosis, cancer, and Alzheimer's disease.

According to this, the statement that is not true about noncommunicable diseases is "Noncommunicable diseases can be transmitted from one person to another" because they are never transmitted but developed due to different factors.

Which piece of legislation requires employers to eliminate or minimize exposure to contaminated sharps? A. Bloodborne Pathogens
Alex

The law that requires employers to eliminate or minimize exposure to contaminated sharps is the Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act.

Further Explanation

The Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act also known as “Needlestick Act” was a law signed on November 6, 2000 that seeks to further reduce the occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens from accidental sharps injuries in healthcare and other occupational settings. The congress thought that a development to OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens Standard was necessary to establish in a more specific manner and in greater detail the requirement by OSHA for all employers which is that they need to identify, evaluate and implement safer medical devices. This Act also stipulated additional requirements in areas such as maintaining a sharps injury log and the involvement of non-managerial healthcare workers in evaluating and choosing devices.

Bloodborne Pathogens are microorganisms in human blood or other potentially infectious materials that can cause diseases such as Hepatitis B Virus (HBV), Hepatitis C Virus (HCV), Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), and many others. Healthcare workers and other occupations that are exposed to blood are most at risk with these pathogens.

Needlestick Act and Bloodborne Pathogens Standard

The Act directs OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) to modify its Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. On January 18, 2001 OSHA published the revised standard and on April 18, 2001 the revised standard took effect. On July 17, 2001 OSHA enforced the new provisions of the standard such as:

  • Requiring employers to maintain a sharps injury log
  • To involve non-managerial employees in selecting safer needle devices

Cecelia is working out at the gym and using the heart rate monitor feature on the treadmill. Her heart rate is at 187 beats per
Jobisdone [24]
C. Decrease the intensity and inline of the treadmill.

Since Cecelia's heart rate, 187 beats per minute, is already above her target heart rate zone 138 to 175 beats per minute, she should decrease the intensity and inline of the treadmill to lower her heart rate.

Increasing intensity and incline will further hasten her heart rate. The duration of the treadmill timer does not impact Cecelia's heart rate.
