The answer is four. The law of conservation of mass basically says that whatever is but in will always have the same mass coming out. so for example if you had 10 grams of water and then you heated it up, it is still 10 grams of water.

Why is calcium oxide CaO, and not CaO2?
Mandarinka [93]
The Calcium ion is an Alkaline earth metal and wants to give up the 2 s orbital elections and become a +2 cation.

Oxygen has six valence electrons and is looking to gain two electrons to complete the octet (8) electron count in the valence shell making it a -2 anion.

When the charges of the Calcium +2 and the Oxygen -2 are equal and opposite, the ions for an electrical attraction. (Remember Paula Abdul told us "Opposites Attract")

This one to one ratio of charges makes the formula CaO

How many moles of MgCl2 are there in 319 g of the compound?
Leokris [45]

Hey there!:

Molar mass MgCl2 = 95.2110 g/mol

So:

1 mole MgCl2 -------------- 95.2110 g

moles MgCl2 ---------------- 319 g

moles MgCl2 = 319 * 1 / 95.2110

moles MgCl2 = 319 / 95.2110

=> 3.350 moles of MgCl2

Hope that helps!

in sexual reproduction, of each chromosome in a pair has the same genes, how is genetic variety possible?
Sliva [168]

This answer will depend on if you are speaking about asexual reproduction or not.

Variety is possible here because the the product genes are half from the mother and half from the father. So a child might have blue eyes from his mother, but red hair from his father, etc. Different genetic mutations are the initial cause of all differentiation between genes, which are passed down from each generation to the next through this same process.

In Asexual reproduction, all reproductions are essentially clones of the parent, and no genetic variation, other than mutations will occur.
