Is the set of integers closed under the operation

Mathematics

The answer "yes" applies to addition, subtraction, and multiplication. This is because we can take any two integers and add them to get some other integer

eg: 5+7 = 12

We can subtract two integers to get some integer

eg: 9-1 = 8

And we can multiply two integers to get an integer

eg: 4*6 = 24

--------------

The only one that isn't closed is division. We can divide some integers to get another integer

eg: 10/2 = 5

but there are cases where dividing two integers does not lead to another integer

eg: 8/5 = 1.6

The result 1.6 is not an integer since it has a decimal part

Also, the example your teacher provides has

1/6 = 0.167 approximately which is also not an integer

$290, 12.5%, 6 months
Veronika [31]
The information shown here only shows a principal sum, a rate of interest and a period or time. There is no question as to what is needed. But suppose the need is for simple interest, then we calculate using the given information and the formula: I = PRT where I is simple interest, P is the principal, R is the rate per year, and T is time P = 290, T is 6 months which is 0.5 years, R = 12.5 % which is written as 0.125 in decimal fraction. I = 290 × 0.125 x 0.5 → I = 18.125 Therefore after 6 months , the interest earned will be 18. 125 dollars

Tickets for the baseball games were $2.50 for general admission and 50 cents for kids. If there were six times as many general a
Makovka662 [10]
There was 3000 general admission tickets sold and 500 kid ticket sold.

How did I get this?

First, we need to see what information we have.
$2.50 = General admission tickets = (G)
$0.50 = kids tickets = (K)
There were 6x as many general admission tickets sold as kids. G = 6K

We need two equations:
G = 6K
$2.50G + $.50K = $7750
Since, G = 6K we can substitute that into the 2nd equation.

2.50(6K) + .50K = 7750
Distribute 2.50 into the parenthesis

15K + .50K = 7750
combine like terms

15.50K = 7750
Divide both sides by 15.50, the left side will cancel out.

K = 7750/15.50
K = 500 tickets
So, 500 kid tickets were sold.

Plug K into our first equation (G = 6k)

G = 6*500
G = 3000 tickets

So, 3000 general admission tickets were sold,

Let's check this:

$2.50(3000 tickets) = $7500 (cost of general admission tickets)
$.50(500 tickets) = $250 (cost of general admission tickets)
$7500 + $250 = $7750 (total cost of tickets)

Solve the simultaneous equations:
3x + 2y = 35
2x + 3y = 30
lesya [120]

Answer:

nuber 1

Simplifying

3x + 2y = 35

Solving

3x + 2y = 35

Solving for variable 'x'.

Move all terms containing x to the left, all other terms to the right.

Add '-2y' to each side of the equation.

3x + 2y + -2y = 35 + -2y

Combine like terms: 2y + -2y = 0

3x + 0 = 35 + -2y

3x = 35 + -2y

Divide each side by '3'.

x = 11.66666667 + -0.6666666667y

Simplifying

x = 11.66666667 + -0.6666666667y
