Answer:

DNA replication

Explanation:

DNA is the genetic material and serves to store genetic information. The genetic information is transmitted from a parent cell to the daughter cells or from the parent to the progeny by the process of DNA replication.

DNA replication is the process that occurs in the nucleus in eukaryotes and includes the synthesis of new DNA strands using the existing DNA strands as a template. The newly formed DNA molecules are then distributed among the daughter cells during cell division. Thereby, the process of DNA replication ensures that the DNA of the parent generation is carried to the next generation.

For instance, sperms and egg cells in humans carry the DNA of male and female parents respectively to the young one. DNA replication occurs in sperm mother cells and egg mother cells during the formation of sperms and egg cells respectively.

According to Mendel’s law of dominance, we would expect _________ percent of the offspring to have white flowers.
Marysya12 [62]

Answer: The correct answer for the fill in the blank is A) Zero.

According to Mendel's law of dominance, in a cross between parents that are true breeding for a contrasting trait (like plant with pure purple and white flowers), only one form is expressed in the next generation and that form is called dominant trait.

As per the Mendelian inheritance, purple flower color is dominant over white flower color. When parents that are pure breeding for purple and white flower ( PP and pp) are crossed, they will produce all purple flowers ( Pp) in the first generation as purple is dominant trait.

Thus, percent of offsprings with white flowers is zero.

Why does deforestation cause global temperatures to rise?
I am Lyosha [343]

Answer:

Trees remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas that causes global warming.

Explanation:

Trees take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen. Deforestation gets rid of trees, so carbon dioxide is no longer being absorbed. Since carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas, meaning that it traps heat in the Earth's atmosphere, too much of it causes global temperatures to rise.
