Answer:

b. International Shoe Co. v. Washington, 326 U.S. 310 (1945)

Explanation:

The term, 'Minimum Contact' specifies when it is appropriate for a court to exercise jurisdiction of a case over a defendant. The case, International Shoe Co. v. Washington, 326 U.S. 310 (1945) was the first notable decision taken by the Supreme court of the United States, where the court ruled that a defendant was subject to the jurisdiction of the state over which it had 'minimum contacts'.

The case was between the International Shoe Company and the state of Washington. The main business operation base for International Shoe Company was in Missouri but they did business in rented facilities in Washington. The state charged them to court for not paying certain taxes for operating their business in Washington. The lower courts ruled in favor of the state. The supreme court however ruled that 'minimum contacts' must be established before a court can exercise jurisdiction over a defendant. This involves knowing the level of business dealings and contacts maintained between the defendants and citizens of the state, as well as the benefits derived by the defendant from the state.

A telecommunications company provided its cable TV subscribers with free access to a new sports channel for a period of one mont
Oduvanchick [21]

Answer:

The director's claim about the number of subscribers willing to pay for the channel is not true. This is because, he didn't factor in some of the other conditions that could have affected the results gotten from the survey.

For example, the survey taken could have been gotten fro the youth subscribers who loves sports hence their indication to be willing to pay. It could also mean, that the number of sample surveyed is far smaller than the actual subscribers that would not be willing to pay for an extra channel.

This would cause the company to lose money if they should implement the results of the survey.

The physicians could claim a person to be dead when their higher brain is no longer functioning, even if their lower brain is still functioning and their heart is still beating. This would lead to a breakthrough on many life support ethical debates where people's lives are prolonged artificially after brain death, but many would consider terminating their life support morally wrong.
