Mathematics

we will select each options and then verify it

option-A:

we know that

greatest integer function is  for all real numbers, x, the greatest integer function returns the largest integer. less than or equal to x

Here , we can see that between 0 to 1 ... then value of y=0..which is less than 1

so, this is TRUE

option-B:

f(4.5)=5

since, this is greatest integer function

so, for x=4.5 , y should be 4

so, this is FALSE

option-C:

Since, this does not satisfy horizontal line test

so, it is not one to one

so, this is FALSE

option-D:

we can see that

f(0)=0

when x=0 , y=0

we are given point at origin

so, this is TRUE

option-E:

we can see that

f(1.4)=1

Since, it is greatest integer function

So, when x=1.4 and y=1

so, this is TRUE

oksano4ka [1.4K]
30. Since he can ride the bike 6 miles in 20 mins, and 100 divided by 20 is 5, the answer would be given to you by multiplying 5x6, which is 30. So he can travel 30 miles in 100 minutes.

The table below gives data from a linear function. find a formula for the function.
baherus [9]
Given the following table that gives data from a linear function:

\begin {tabular}
{|c|c|c|c|}
Temperature, $y = f(x)$ (^\circ C)&0&5&20 \\ [1ex]
Temperature, $x$ (^\circ F)&32&41&68 \\
\end {tabular}

The formular for the function can be obtained by choosing two points from the table and using the formular for the equation of a straight line.

Recall that the equation of a straight line is given by
\frac{y-y_1}{x-x_1} = \frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Using the points (32, 0) and (41, 5), we have:
\frac{y-0}{x-32} = \frac{5-0}{41-32}= \frac{5}{9}  \\  \\ \Rightarrow y=\frac{5}{9}(x-32)
