The treaties between whites and Native Americans began in the late 1700's and lasted nearly a century. At this time, Native Americans were considered sub-humans, not worthy of the land that they used to own. There was certainly a pattern in the treaties between these two ethnic groups. After the Natives were forced to move to the southern part of the country, the white americans discovered diamonds in the mountains of Texas and gold in California (the gold rush) and again the Natives were violently removed from these parts of the land.
