\\
\text{Ms.Gartland bought x number of shirts for the new members of her chorus.}\\
\text{The cost of x shirts, was 77.49 dollars including a }\3.99 \text{ shipping charges}\\
\\
\text{Given that each shirt cost }\$12.25 \text{, so the cost of x shirts would be}\\
=12.25\times x=12.25x\\
\\
\text{hence the equation that represents this situation is:}\\
\\
\text{Total cost of x shirts at a rate of 12.25 dollars each + Shipping charges}=\$77.49\\
\\
\Rightarrow 12.25x+3.99=77.49

Hence the equation that can be used to find x is:

12.25 x + 3.99= 77.49

The extensions of the legs AB and CD of a trapezoid ABCD intersect at point E. Find the lengths of the sides of △AED if AB=5cm,
Lynna [10]

Answer:

  AE = 15 cm; ED = 18 cm; AD = 15 cm (given)

Step-by-step explanation:

ΔBEC ~ ΔAED so ...

   AD/BC = AE/BE = (BE+AB)/BE = 1 + AB/BE

Substituting given numbers (lengths in centimeters), we have ...

  15/10 = 1 + 5/BE

  1/2 = 5/BE

  BE = 10

Similarly, ...

  1/2 = 6/CE

  CE = 12

Then the unknown sides are ...

  AE = AB + BE = 5 + 10 = 15 . . . cm

  ED = CE + CD = 12 + 6 = 18 . . . cm

Answer:

x= -8 , y = 5

x= 25/4 , y = 1/4

Step-by-step explanation:

substitute first eqn into the second eqn:

(7 - 3y)^2 -y^2 = 39

49 - 42y + 9y^2 - y^2 = 39

8y^2 - 42y +10 =0

4y^2 - 21y + 5 = 0

(4y-1) (y-5) = 0

y= 1/4 , 5

when y=1/4

x = 7- 3/4

=25/4

when y= 5

x = 7- 15

= -8

Suppose 123 people voted for Danny. If 55 of the votes were from girls what would be the ratio of voted from girls to votes from
PtichkaEL [24]
Well you know that the amount of boys that voted for Danny has to be 123 - 55, so you do that and get 68, then the ratio of girls to boys is 55:68, and that can't be simplified anymore because 55 has factors of only 1, 55, 11, and 5, and that doesn't get you anywhere.
