Answer:

x = 22

y = 13

Step-by-step explanation:

First solve x.

180 = 5x + 25 + 2x + 1

180 = 7x +26

154 = 7x

x = 22

Then use x to solve for y.

2(22) + 1 = 45

45 = 3y - 6

39 = 3y

y = 13

Spencer has a retirement account through his employer. His monthly contributions to the account are taken out of his check befor
abruzzese [7]

Answer:

Traditional 401 (K) plan

Step-by-step explanation:

The fact that the contributions to the pension plan are deducted before payroll taxes means that the plan in question is a traditional 401 (K) plan with taxes on the earnings deferred until the employee eventually withdraws funds from the pension plan.

This is quite different from Roth  401 (K) Plan where the contribution is not tax deferred ,instead contributions are made after payroll taxes have been sorted but eventual withdrawal from the plan is tax exempt.

The polynomial p(x)=2x^3-x^2-25x-12 has a known factor of (x+3). Rewrite p(x) as a product of linear factors.
katrin2010 [14]

Answer:

p(x) = (x + 3) (2x + 1) (x − 4)

Step-by-step explanation:

One way to find the other factor is long division (see attached).

Another way is to multiply x + 3 by ax² + bx + c, then match the result to p(x).

(x + 3) (ax² + bx + c)

ax³ + bx² + cx + 3ax² + 3bx + 3c

ax³ + (b+3a)x² + (c+3b)x + 3c

a = 2, b = -7, c = -4

Therefore:

p(x) = (x + 3) (2x² − 7x − 4)

Factoring:

p(x) = (x + 3) (2x + 1) (x − 4)
