The function f(x) = x2 + 22x + 58 is translated 4 units to the right and 16 units up. What is the vertex form of the new functio
kap26 [50]

Answer:

The new function is (x + 7)² - 47 ⇒ the 3rd answer

Step-by-step explanation:

* Lets put the function f(x) in the vertex form at first and then make

 the translation

∵ The general form of the quadratic function is

  f(x) = ax² + bx + c

∵ The x-coordinate of the vertex of the function is -b/2a

∵ The y-coordinate of the vertex of the function is f(-b/2a)

- Lets find a , b from the function two find the vertex point

∵ f(x) = x² + 22x + 58

∴ a = 1 , b = 22 , c = 58

∵ x-coordinate of the vertex = -b/2a

∴ x-coordinate of the vertex = -22/2(1) = -11

∵ y-coordinate of the vertex = f(-11)

∴ f(-11) = (-11)² + 22(-11) + 58 = 121 - 242 + 58 = -63

∴ The vertex point is (-11 , -63)

- The vertex form of the quadratic function is f(x) = (x - h)² + k , where

(h , k) are the coordinates of the vertex point

∵ The vertex point is (-11 , -63)

∴ h = -11 , k = -63

∴ f(x) = (x - -11)² + -63

∴ f(x) = (x + 11)² - 63

* lets revise the rules of the translation

- If the function f(x) translated horizontally to the right

 by m units, then the new function g(x) = f(x - m)

- If the function f(x) translated horizontally to the left

 by m units, then the new function g(x) = f(x + m)

- If the function f(x) translated vertically up

 by n units, then the new function g(x) = f(x) + n

- If the function f(x) translated vertically down

 by n units, then the new function g(x) = f(x) – n

∵ f(x) will translate 4 units to the right

∴ m = 4

∵ f(x) ⇒ f(x - m)

∴ (x + 11)²  ⇒ (x + 11 - 4)² = (x + 7)²

∵f(x) will translate 16 units up

∴ -63 will add by 16

∴ n = 16

∴ f(x) ⇒ f(x) + n

∵ -63 + 16 = -47

∴ The new function is (x + 7)² - 47

What is 7 x 9 x 38 x 8282 x383 - y +98 =887
Keith_Richards [23]
My answer -

This is essay about the time I ran away from home when I was six years old. This was a really important time in my life that taught me about living in the world all by your self. One night at my house I was laying down under the covers. And my mother and father were fighting my father was an abusive alcoholic.

After every time my father and mother fought she had a another bruise on here face. I couldn't take it anymore I was tired of my mother an father fighting. So I decided to run away I packed my care bear suit case with clothes , food , and my favorite dolly. I climbed out the window of my room.

They did not even notice I was gone so then I started walking. I met a nice man. Who had a kind face he asked me where were my parents. I did not speak I just stood there life less. He took out his phone and made a call. Then a police car showed up and two officers came out. They said they were coming to take me home.

I got in the car just like they told me once we got to there were my parents standing there waiting for me. My mother and father gave me a hug and brought me inside. My mother asked me my why I ran away I said because I did not want them to fight anymore.

She told my that you can't stop people from having conflict or disagreements. That is just life people have several disagreements all the time everyday. But you have got to learn how to end a disagreement . My mother gave me some really important information that day and I will always remember it.

P.S

Happy to help you have an AWESOME!!! day :)

How can conversion of measurements help me solve real world problems
jeka57 [31]
In different parts of the world people use different units. Being able to convert will help me understand and fit into their surroundings. Like for instance in Canada people measure speed in kilometers, so their speed limits are written in kmph. While in America the speed is measured in miles so Mph. Knowinf=g the conversions can help you drive safely and not get a ticket.
Hope that was what you were expecting.
