An ant looks up to the top of a tree with an angle of elevation of 38 degrees. If the ant is 43 feet from the base of the tree, what is the height of the tree, to the nearest tenth?

Looking at the picture below (where the blue line is the height and the red line is equal to 43), we see that we can use the trigonometric ratio tan.

tan38=x/43
which simplifies to
43*tan38=x
which gets us that x=33.6 (approximately)
