1) May: 248$ and june 265$. The difference is 17$ and then you divide the difference with the old price: 17/ 248 = 6,85%
<span>2) Same method, the difference is 59$ so 27,44%' </span>
<span>3) The difference is 9,5$ so you answer is 63,3% </span>
<span>4) The difference is 10$ divided by the original price: 10/24 = 41,66%</span>

astraxan [27]
Hi! So what you’re gonna do is multiple everything in the parentheses by what is in front of the parentheses. In this case it is -6!

-6•1=-6
-6•3=-18

-6+-18=-24

5. When y varies directly with x, the value of y = -2 when x = 4. What is the value of y when x = 8?
zmey [24]

Answer:

-4

Step-by-step explanation:

if y = -2 then x = 4

what is y when x = 8

\frac{ - 2}{x}  =  \frac{4}{8}  \\  - 16 = 4x \\ x =  - 4

A commuter must pass through 5 traffic lights on her way to work and will have to stop at each one that is red. She estimates th
sergij07 [2.7K]

Answer:

(a) The mean or expected value of <em>X </em>is 2.2.

(b) The standard deviation of <em>X</em> is 1.3.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let <em>X</em> = number of times the traffic light is red when a commuter passes through the traffic lights.

The probability distribution of <em>X</em> id provided.

The formula to compute the mean or expected value of <em>X </em>is:

\mu=E(X)=\sum x.P(X=x)

The formula to compute the standard deviation of <em>X </em>is:

\sigma=\sqrt{E(X^{2})-(E(X))^{2}}

The formula of E (X²) is:

E(X^{2})=\sum x^{2}.P(X=x)

(a)

Compute the expected value of <em>X</em> as follows:

E(X)=\sum x.P(X=x)\\=(0\times0.06)+(1\times0.25)+(2\times0.35)+(3\times0.15)+(4\times0.13)+(5\times0.06)\\=2.22\\\approx2.2

Thus, the mean or expected value of <em>X </em>is 2.2.

(b)

Compute the value of E (X²) as follows:

E(X^{2})=\sum x^{2}.P(X=x)\\=(0^{2}\times0.06)+(1^{2}\times0.25)+(2^{2}\times0.35)+(3^{2}\times0.15)+(4^{2}\times0.13)+(5^{2}\times0.06)\\=6.58

Compute the standard deviation of <em>X</em> as follows:

\sigma=\sqrt{E(X^{2})-(E(X))^{2}}\\=\sqrt{6.58-(2.22)^{2}}\\=\sqrt{1.6516}\\=1.285\\\approx1.3

Thus, the standard deviation of <em>X</em> is 1.3.

Which do the following equations represent? -4x-5y=-4 and 10x-8y=-1
kicyunya [14]
Parallel have same slope
Perpendicular have opposite reciprocal slopes. Ex. 2/3 is slope of one line so the perpendicular line would have slope of -3/2.

Find slopes of these lines.

-4x-5y=-4
-4x+4 =5y
Divide by 5

Y= -4x/5 +4/5

Second line: 10x-8y=-1

10x+1=8y
Divide by 8

10x/8 +1/8 =y

Y= 5x/4 +1/8

So if you look at slope of line 1= -4/5 and line 2 it’s 5/4 so these both are perpendicular.
