There is no graph but the reason people who have aids cant fight it off is because it is an immune disease it quickly weakens the immune system and makes a persons body too weak to fight anything off.

How many federal agencies are responsible for managing land resources in the United States?
dimulka [17.4K]

The answer would be 4.

The agencies are:

Department of Agriculture's Forest Service (AFS)

Department of the Interior's Bureau of Land Management (BLM)

Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS)

National Park Service (NPS)

These four agencies cover around 95% of the land and are the only federal agencies.

I learned about these agencies in school.

Write the formula for lead oxide.
serious [3.7K]

Answer:

Lead(II) oxide

Explanation:

Lead(II) oxide, also called lead monoxide, is the inorganic compound with the molecular formula PbO. PbO occurs in two polymorphs: litharge having a tetragonal crystal structure, and massicot having an orthorhombic crystal structure. Modern applications for PbO are mostly in lead-based industrial glass and industrial ceramics, including computer components. It is an amphoteric oxide.[3]

 • IUPAC name
 • Lead(II) oxide

 • Other names
 • Lead monoxide
 • Litharge
 • Massicot
 • Plumbous oxide
 • Galena

Preparation

PbO may be prepared by heating lead metal in air at approximately 600 °C (1,100 °F). At this temperature it is also the end product of oxidation of other oxides of lead in air:[4]

Thermal decomposition of lead(II) nitrate or lead(II) carbonate also results in the formation of PbO:

2 Pb(NO

3)

2 → 2 PbO + 4 NO

2 + O

2

PbCO

3 → PbO + CO2

PbO is produced on a large scale as an intermediate product in refining raw lead ores into metallic lead. The usual lead ore is galena (lead(II) sulfide). At a temperature of around 1,000 °C (1,800 °F) the sulfide is converted to the oxide:[5]

2 PbS + 3 O

2 → 2 PbO + 2 SO2

Metallic lead is obtained by reducing PbO with carbon monoxide at around 1,200 °C (2,200 °F):[6]

PbO + CO → Pb + CO2

Which statement is true about oxidation and reduction in an electrochemical cell?
Mila [183]

Answer : The correct option is, (3) Oxidation occurs at the anode and reduction occurs at the cathode.

Explanation :

Electrochemical cell : It is a type of device which is used to convert the chemical energy into electrical energy during the redox reaction.

In the electrochemical cell, there are two electrodes. The electrode on which the oxidation takes place is called the anode (or negative pole) and the electrode on which the reduction takes place is called the cathode (or positive pole). This cell is connected by the salt bridge.

In the external circuit, the electrons flow from the anode (negative pole) to cathode (positive pole) through the voltmeter.

In the inner circuit, the ions flow through the salt bridge.

Hence, the correct option is, (3) Oxidation occurs at the anode and reduction occurs at the cathode.

True or False:
Acids react with some metals to produce hydrogen gas
Sedaia [141]
Acids react with most metals to form a salt and hydrogen gas. ... For example, zinc metal reacts with hydrochloric acid producing zinc chloride and hydrogen gas. \[\ce{Zn(s) + 2HCl(aq) → ZnCl2(aq) + H2(g)}\] Bases react with certain metals like zinc or aluminum for example to also produce hydrogen gas.

What best describes the collisions between ideal gas molecules?
Serggg [28]

The molecules are continually colliding with each other and with the walls of the container. When a molecule collides with the wall, they exert small force on the wall The pressure exerted by the gas is due to the sum of all these collision forces. The more particles that hit the walls, the higher the pressure.
