Set the x’s equal to each other, so move them to the same side.
2+5x+3x=7
Now move the 2 over to set it equal to 7.
5x+3x=7-2
Add/Subtract as necessary.
5x+3x=8x
7-2=5
8x=5.
Divide to make the X stand alone to find the answer. x=5/8.
Your answer is 5/8ths.

Step 1:
Move the 3x to the leftbside by adding 3x to both -3x snd 5x. So you now have 2+2x=7

Step 2:
subtrac2 3 from both 7 and 2, so you know have 2x=5.

Step 3:
divide 2x and 5 by 2. You noe have the answer: x=2.5

If 2 triangles are similar, the ratio of one side of the triangle to the corresponding side of the other is always same for all 3 sides.
We can make use of this rule to calculate the length of sides.
From the image,
3 / 15 = 6 / x
Simplify,
1 / 5 = 6 / x
Use cross method to solve this.
5 x 6 = 1 x x
X = 30
Therefore the length of x is 30ft., A.

What is the total surface area of the rectangular prism?
bogdanovich [222]

Answer:

Total surface = 102.4 cm^2 (second answer in the list of options)

Step-by-step explanation:

Notice that we need to add the surface of 4 rectangles, two have smaller sizes than the other two. A pair of rectangles are 7.2 cm x 4 cm = 28.8 cm^2, while the other pair has 7.2 cm x 2 cm = 14.4 cm^2

There are also two equal bases each one of size 4 cm x 2 cm = 8 cm^2

Now we add two of each of the individual surfaces discussed above to complete the total surface area:

2 * 28.8 + 2 * 14.4 + 2 * 8 =  102.4 cm^2

which agrees with the second answer option provided.
