Answer:

There is only one zero pair added i.e. 9.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Function f(x)=x^2-6x+1

To find : How many zero pairs must be added to the function  in order to begin writing the function in vertex form?

Solution :

Converting the given function into vertex form,

f(x)=x^2-6x+1

Adding and subtracting square of 3,

f(x)=x^2-6x+(3)^2-(3)^2+1

Square form as a^2-2ab+b^2=(a-b)^2

f(x)=(x-3)^2-9+1

f(x)=(x-3)^2-8

So, The required vertex form is f(x)=(x-3)^2-8

There is only one zero pair added i.e. 9.

one orange and one apple cost 1.05, two oranges and three apples cost $2.75, how much do two apples cost?
Nimfa-mama [501]
If you would like to know how much do two apples cost, you can calculate this using the following steps:

o ... the cost of one orange
a ... the cost of one apple

1 * o + 1 * a = $1.05
2 * o + 3 * a = $2.75
_______________
o + a = 1.05 ... o = 1.05 - a
2 * o + 3 * a = 2.75
2 * (1.05 - a) + 3 * a = 2.75
2.1 - 2 * a + 3 * a = 2.75
a = 2.75 - 2.1
a = $0.65

o = 1.05 - a = 1.05 - 0.65 = $0.4

2 * a = 2 * 0.65 = $1.3

The correct result would be: Two apples cost $1.3.

2. Keeping in mind the context of this situation, what is the practical domain and practical range of this function?
Vilka [71]
Since you are already given with how the graph looks like, and you are given the equation to verify the identity of the function, you can determine the domain and range by either inspection of the graph or substituting values to the function.
By inspection, the domain or the possible values of x is any real number from negative infinity to positive infinity or (-∞, +∞).
Again by inspection, the range or the possible values of y is any positive value or any real number greater than 0 to positive infinity or (0, +∞).
