In a continuous manufacturing process, chlorodifluoromethane (CHClF2), initially at 10 bar and 420 K, passes through an adiabati

c pressure-reducing valve so that its pressure drops to 0.1 bar (this last pressure is low enough that CHClF2 can be considered to be an ideal gas). At these operations conditions, the gas can be represented by a one-term virial equation of state: The following data are available for this gas: in cm3/mol and in J/mol.K What is the temperature of CHClF2 exiting the valve?

A sample of O2, under occupies 500ml at 25.0°C. What volume will the sample occupy at 0.0°C
NeX [460]

Answer:

458ml

Explanation:

According to charles law, $\frac{V_{1}}{T_{1}} =\frac{V_{2}}{T_{2}} $

Given values,

Volume occupied $V_{2}=500ml$

Temperature $T_{1}=25.0^{\circ}C=25+273=298K$

Second temperature $T_{2}=0.0^{\circ}C=273K$

Volume $V_{2}=?$

From charles law, $V_{2}=\frac{V_{1} \times T_{2}}{T_{1}}$ \\$=\frac{500 \times 273}{298}$\\$=458ml$

$\therefore$ Volume occupied by the oxygen at 0.0°C is 458ml

Why does a reaction slow down with time?
Alex777 [14]
As a reaction proceeds the concentration of the reactants will get lower. Since reactions occur due to collisions that are in the correct orientation and lower concentrations leads to a lower amount of collisions, lower concentrations result in lower reaction rates. I hope this helps. Let me know if anything is unclear.
