Explanation:

Oxygen can be prepared in a number of ways in the laboratory.

Oxygen is an element that belongs to the sixth group on the periodic table.

It can be prepared by:

  • Heating easily decomposable oxygen compounds such as KClO₃.

The catalyst often used here is MnO₂:

    2KClO₃  → 2KCl   + 3O₂

  • Addition of hydrogen peroxide solution to manganese (IV) oxide which is a catalyst without heating:

      2H₂O₂     →    2H₂O + O₂    

Oxygen can also be produce by fractional distillation of air. Also electrolysis of water produces oxygen. These methods commercially produces oxygen.

Helium is a light gas.  Movement can be predicted by which chamber has the lighter gas(es) and which chamber has the heavier.  constant changes can also be a variable.  If the gas is constant, then changes are more easily predicted.
