Consider the sequence: 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, ... Write a recursive definition.

8 0

The first term is 8, so a_{1} = 8

Each time we want a new term, we add on 3

8+3 = 11

11+3 = 14

14+3 = 17

17+3 = 20

23+3 = 26

and so on

This recursive step of adding on 3 to the prior term is written as this: a_{n} = 3 + a_{n-1} which says "to get the nth term, add 3 to the term just before the nth term"

Based on what you posted for your answer choices, the final answer is likely choice C. However it seems some weird typo happened.

Jamal has $15.00 to spend at the concession stand. He buys nachos for $7.50, and he wants to purchase some sour straws for $1.50
GalinKa [24]

Answer:

x = 5

$15.00 is the total amount of money Jamal has right? To find the remaining amount of money Jamal has subtract 15 - 7.5 (price of nachos) = 7.5 (remaining amount of money Jamal has.) Now for part 2, since the sour straws are $1.50 each you just have to multiply X to get close as close to the remaining amount of money as possible.

1.50× 5 (amount of sour straws) is equal to 7.50 (price of 5 sour straws).

To check your answer let's add the price of nachos (7.50) and 5 sour straws (7.50) which is 15.00 the total amount Jamal brought with him.

1. Given the below sequence: -1, -3, -5, -7, . . . (a) What are the next 3 terms? (b) Is this an arithmetic or geometric sequenc
valentinak56 [21]

Answer:

(a) -7 , - 9 , - 11

(b) Arithmetic sequence

(c) There is a common difference of -2

(d) -53

Step-by-step explanation:

(a) To find the next three terms , we must firs check if it is arithmetic sequence or a geometric sequence . For it to be an arithmetic sequence , there must be a common difference :

check :

-3 - (-1) = -5 - (-3) = -7 - (-5)  = -2

This means that there is a common difference of -2 , which means it is an arithmetic sequence.

The next 3 terms we are to find are: 5th term , 6th term and 7th term.

t_{5} = a + 4d

t_{5} = - 1 + 4 ( -2 )

t_{5} = -1 - 8

t_{5} = - 9

6th term = a +5d

t_{6} = -1 + 5(-2)

t_{6} = -1 - 10

t_{6} = - 11

t_{7} = a + 6d

t_{7} = -1 + 6 (-2)

t_{7} = -1 - 12

t_{7} = -13

Therefore : the next 3 terms are : -9 , -11 , - 13

(b) it is an arithmetic sequence because there is a common difference which is -2

(c) Because of the existence of common difference

(d) t_{27} = a + 26d

t_{27} = -1 + 26 ( -2 )

t_{27} = -1 - 52

t_{27} = - 53

Find a number that is between 2/7 and 4/11 .
Furkat [3]
To answer this problem, one way is to use the calculator and add directly the two numbers and get the average between the two. The answer is 25/77. We can also get this number by getting the LCM of the denominators which is 77. 2/7 is equal to 22/77 while 4/11 is equal to 28/77. 0.5*(22 +28) is equal to 25. Hence the answer is 25/77.
