The mean is not the same thing as median
mean=78+81+85+87=331
mean=331/4=82.75
median is the middle number, but you have a par set of numbers, so your median will be the middle numbers 78,81,85,87 , which are 81+85=166, 166/2=83
83 is your median

Salaries of 40 college graduates who took a statistics course in college have a mean of $62, 200. Assuming a standard deviation
ololo11 [35]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

We want to determine a 90% confidence interval for the mean salaries of college graduates

Number of sample, n = 40

Mean, u = $62, 200

Standard deviation, s = $11,766

For a confidence level of 90%, the corresponding z value is 1.645. This is determined from the normal distribution table.

We will apply the formula

Confidence interval

= mean +/- z ×standard deviation/√n

It becomes

62200 +/- 1.645 × 11766/√40

= 62200 +/- 1.645 × 1860.4

= 62200 +/- 3060.358

The lower end of the confidence interval is 62200 - 3060.358 =59139.642

The upper end of the confidence interval is 62200 + 3060.358 =65260.358

Therefore, with 90% confidence interval, the mean mean salaries of college graduates is between $59139.642 and $65260.358

Which represents the solution set of 5 (x + 5) less-than 85 x less-than 12 x greater-than 12 x less-than 16 x greater-than 16
Sonbull [250]

For this case we must find the solution of the following inequality:

5 (x + 5)

Applying distributive property on the left side of inequality we have:

5x + 25

Subtracting 25 from both sides of the inequality we have:

5x

Dividing between 5 on both sides of the inequality we have:

x

Thus, the solution is given by all values of x less than 12.

Answer:

x
