if you have the sequence of 4, 8, 10, 5, and 9, the average would be (4+18+10+4+9)/5 = 9
Actually, the median is not the same as the average. The mean and the average are the same. To find the median, put these numbers in order. So 4, 5, 8, 9, 10. Now see which number is in the middle. It is 8, so 8 is the median number.
