A closed circuit is formed by a solid conductor in contact with two parallel conducting rails that are closed on their left end,

as shown. the solid conductor moves with a velocity of 5 m/s to the right, and the circuit resides in a uniform magnetic field of 0.80 t directed into the screen. if the rails are 0.20 m apart, what is the magnitude of the emf in this loop

this is an equation that you need to solve for motional emf. motional emf=vBL, where v is velocity in meters/second, B is magnetic field in Teslas and L is length or distance the rails are apart from each other. when we plug everything into the formula given above, we get: motional emf=5m/s*0.80T*0.20m. solving all this we get 0.8 volts. pretty sure that since they are giving you the direction of the field, they want to know which way the current will flow . since the conductor is moving from left to right the area of the field is increasing which means magnetic flux is increasing as Ф(magnetic flux)=B(magnetic field)*A(area)*cosФ(little phi is the angle to the normal. in this case little fee is 0 degrees so the cosФ doesn't matter). so ↑Ф=B↑A. if magnetic flux is increasing, the induced magnetic field is in the opposite direction as the original magnetic field meaning the induced magnetic field will be out of the page. using the right hand rule which says that if the field is in to the page, the current should go clockwise and if the field is out of the page, the current is counterclockwise so that means that the current should be going counter clockwise since the induced field is going out of the screen. the top of the conducting wire will have its current go to the left and the bottom of the conducting wire will have the current go to the right.

A brand of earplugs reduces the sound intensity level by 27 dB.By what factor do these earplugs reduce the acoustic intensity?
Fofino [41]

Answer:

Explanation:

27dB = 2.7 B

So I / I₀ = 10⁻²°⁷ , I₀ is intensity of main sound and I is intensity after reduction.

= 1.99 X 10⁻³

So intensity will reduce by 1.99 X 10⁻³ .

Consider the parallel-plate capacitor shown in the figure. The plate separation is 1.8 mm and the the electric field inside is 2
quester [9]

We have that the Velocities is mathematically given as

a)v=2.8e5m/s

b)v_2=3.11e5m/s

From the question we are told

 • Consider the parallel-plate capacitor shown in the figure.
 • The plate separation is 1.8 mm and the the electric field inside is 23 N/C.
 • An electron is positioned halfway between the plates and is given some initial velocity, vi.

Velocity

Generally the equation for the workdone is mathematically given as

a)

-qEr=0.5m(u/2)^2\\\\Therefore\\\\1.6e-19*19*2.9e-3=0.5*9.1e-31*v^2/4

v=2.8e5m/s

b)

applying work

-qEr=0.5m(u/2)^2\\\\1.6e-19*19*2.9e-3=0.5*9.1e-31(v_2^2-7.75e10)

v_2=3.11e5m/s

A ray of yellow sodium light enters water from air with an angle of incidence of 45°. What is the angle of refraction?
Svetllana [295]

Answer:

32°

Explanation:

Snell's law:

n₁ sin θ₁ = n₂ sin θ₂

1.00 sin 45° = 1.33 sin θ

θ ≈ 32°

There are two important isotopes of uranium, 235U
nydimaria [60]

Answer:

a) (vᵣₘₛ₁/vᵣₘₛ₂) = 1.00429

where vᵣₘₛ₁ represents the vᵣₘₛ for 235-UF6 and vᵣₘₛ₂ represents the vᵣₘₛ for 238-UF6.

b) T = 767.34 K

c) The answers point to a difficult seperation technique, as the two compounds of the different isotopes have very close rms speeds and to create a difference of only 1 m/s In their rms speeds would require a high temperature of up to 767.34 K.

Explanation:

The vᵣₘₛ for an atom or molecule is given by

vᵣₘₛ = √(3RT/M)

where R = molar gas constant = J/mol.K

T = absolute temperature in Kelvin

M = Molar mass of the molecules.

₁₂

Let the vᵣₘₛ of 235-UF6 be vᵣₘₛ₁

And its molar mass = M₁ = 349.0 g/mol

vᵣₘₛ₁ = √(3RT/M₁)

√(3RT) = vᵣₘₛ₁ × √M₁

For the 238-UF6

Let its vᵣₘₛ be vᵣₘₛ₂

And its molar mass = M₂ = 352.0 g/mol

√(3RT) = vᵣₘₛ₂ × √M₂

Since √(3RT) = √(3RT)

vᵣₘₛ₁ × √M₁ = vᵣₘₛ₂ × √M₂

(vᵣₘₛ₁/vᵣₘₛ₂) = (√M₂/√M₁) = [√(352)/√(349)]

(vᵣₘₛ₁/vᵣₘₛ₂) = 1.00429

b) Recall

vᵣₘₛ₁ = √(3RT/M₁)

vᵣₘₛ₂ = √(3RT/M₂)

(vᵣₘₛ₁ - vᵣₘₛ₂) = 1 m/s

[√(3RT/M₁)] - [√(3RT/M₂)] = 1

R = 8.314 J/mol.K, M₁ = 349.0 g/mol = 0.349 kg/mol, M₂ = 352.0 g/mol = 0.352 kg/mol, T = ?

√T [√(3 × 8.314/0.349) - √(3 × 8.314/0.352) = 1

√T (8.4538 - 8.4177) = 1

√T = 1/0.0361

√T = 27.7

T = 27.7²

T = 767.34 K

c) The answers point to a difficult seperation technique, as the two compounds of the different isotopes have very close rms speeds and to create a difference of only 1 m/s In their rms speeds would require a high temperature of up to 767.34 K.
