-3 as it is closest to 0 however the rest of the numbers are further away from the positive numbers.

a parabola contains the points (0,0),(-1,-2) and (1,6). what is the equation of the parabola in standard form?
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]

Let the equation be:

y = ax^2 + bx + c.

Then, substitue the three points into the equation.

First point: 0 = a0^2 + b0 + c.

So  c = 0.

Second point: -2 = a(-1)^2 + b(-1) + c.

So  a - b + c = -2.

Third point: 6 = a*1^2 + b*1 + c.

So  a + b + c = 6.

We know that c=0 already, so we substitute c=0 into the last two equations and we would get:

a - b = -2

a + b = 6

We add the two equations and we get:

2a = 4

a = 2

Then, we substitute a=2 into a-b=-2 and we get:

-b = -4

b = 4

Now we know a = 2, b = 4, and c = 0

Then, the equation of the parabola would be:

2x^2 + 4x

Claire is looking at the equation of a conic section where A=1, B=0, C=0. Which type of conic section is represented by the equa
Kitty [74]
The general equation of second degree is
                             Ax²+By²+Gx+Fy+C=0 ------1

Now the given conditions are
A=1, B=0, C=0
Now,
putting in eq. 1
x²+Gx+Fy=0
x²+Gx= -Fy
For completing square, add both side (G/2)²
x²+Gx+(G/2)²=-Fy+(G/2)²
(x+G/2)²=-F(y-G²/4F)
Or
X²=-FY where X=x+G/2, Y=y-G²/4F
which is the standard eq. of parabola in XY-coordinate.

When measuring time, 5 movies are approximately equal to 25 TV sitcom episodes. How many TV sitcom episodes are equal to 75 movi
Nezavi [6.7K]
1. You could write it as a rate.
5 movies         =  75 movies
25 TV sitcoms =  x sitcoms

2. Cross multiply:
5x = 1875

3. Divide
x = 375 TV sitcoms

you could do the same thing for the second question
5 movies    = x
25 sitcoms = 50 sitcoms

cross multiply:
25x = 250

divide:
x = 10

Hoochie [10]

Answer:

x=(2/3)y-4

Step-by-step explanation:

You mean:

3x - 2y = -12

solve:
