Buddhism is one of the main influencing forces of Chinese civilization.

Buddhist teachings were assimilated by the Chinese population and merged with other religious beliefs in the region, such as Confucianism, Taoism and traditional Chinese religion. Taoism was certainly one of the main allies for the spread of Buddhism in China, since it was Taoists who helped Buddhist monks to translate sutras, that is, sacred writings into Chinese. In doing so, they used language with expressions and terms from Taoism, already well known to the Chinese, so that Buddhism was better understood.
