Write the empirical formula of at least four binary ionic compounds that could be formed from the following ions:

Chemistry
1 answer:
maxonik [38]3 years ago
7 0

Answer:

$ CaCl_2$, CaS, $ Cr Cl_4$, $ CrS_2$

Explanation:

The reaction can be done by adding the cations and the anions.

The binary compounds are always formed by the two different elements.

When one calcium ion, $ Ca ^{2+} $ combines with the two calcium ions, $ Cl^-$, they formed a binary compound of $ CaCl_2$.

When one $ Ca ^{2+} $ combines with one $S^{2-}$ ion, they formed CaS binary compound.

When one chromium ion $ Cr^{4+}$ combines with four ions of chlorine, $ Cl ^- $, the compound formed is $ Cr Cl_4$.

When 1 ion of $ Cr^{4+}$ combines with 2 ions of sulphur, $S^2$, the binary compound formed is $ CrS_2$.

How do greenhouse gases affect visible and infrared light?
Allushta [10]
Greenhouse gases let through a lot (but not totally all) visible light,  while infrared light gets trapped in, or reflected from, the medium. That means that although visible light is able to pass through to us on the surface, the long wavelength infrared light, which is produced as a result of this visible light heating up everything on Earth, gets trapped on its way out of the earth's atmosphere, heating up the planet.
A good analogy is the effect that a sunny day has on the inside of your car when you enter it. The light comes in, the heat stays in. The glass windows of the car display similar, although more intense, properties to greenhouse gases. Hence the name "GreenHouse Effect"
Answer: <span>C.) They reflect infrared light but let visible light pass through.

What is e cell (in units of volts) for a galvanic cell constructed from barium and manganese electrodes?
gulaghasi [49]

Main Answer: The standard electrode potential of galvanic cell constructed from barium and manganese electrode is 4.097.

Explanation:

When the galvanic cell constructed between Manganese and Barium, the half reactions will be as follows:

Mn2+(aq) + 2e-⟶ Mn(s)                                             E1 = −1.185

Ba2+(aq) + 2e-⟶ Ba(s)                                                 E2 = −2.912

By considering the above two reactions, the standard electrode potential can be calculated.

The galvanic cell standard electrode potential is given by E1 + E2 = 1.185 + 2.912 = 4.097 volts

What is standard electrode potential?

Standard electrode potential is defined as the measure of reducing power of any compound or element. Its units are volts.

How much heat, in joules and in calories, must be added to a 75.0–g iron block with a specific heat of 0.449 j/g °c to increas
lianna [129]

Answer:

Q=50,849.25J\\\\Q=12,153.3cal

Explanation:

Hello!

In this case, given the mass, temperature change and specific heat, it is possible to compute the required heat in joules as shown below:

Q=mC(T_2-T_1)\\\\Q=75.0g*0.449\frac{J}{g\°C}(1535\°C-25\°C)\\\\Q=50,849.25J

Now, since 1 cal =4.184 J, this result in calories is:

Q=50,849.25J*\frac{1cal}{4.184J}\\\\Q=12,153.3cal

Best regards!
