16 is 10 +6, and 34 is 30+4
10*30=300
10*4=40
6*30=180
4*6=24
add them up: 300+40+180+24=544

Find an equation of variation in which y varies directly as x and y = 12 when x = 6
Margarita [4]
Direct variation:-

y = kx where k is a constant

y=12 when x=6 so we have:-

12 = k*6

k = 12/6 = 2

so our equation of variation is y = 2x Answer

1 & 2) what are the surface areas? please explain.
mote1985 [20]
To find the surface area of a cylinder, use the formula SA = 2(pi)(radius^2) + 2(pi)(radius)(height).

So now, plug in what you know.

SA = 2(3.14)(5^2) + 2(3.14)(5)(9)
SA = (6.28)(25) + (6.28)(45)
SA = 157 + 282.6
SA = 439.6 square cm

439.6 square cm is your surface area
