Answer:

In the oxidation of Pyruvate to Acetyl CoA  one carbon atom is released as CO2, However, the oxidation of the remaining two carbon atoms in acetate to CO2, requires a complex, eight step pathway, the citric-acid cycle.

Explanation:

Overall, one turn of the citric acid cycle releases two carbon dioxide molecules and produces three {NADH} one {FADH2} and one ATP or GTP. The Citric acid cycle goes around twice for each molecule of glucose that enters cellular respiration because there are two pyruvate and thus, two acetyl {CoA}s are made per glucose.

As you go down a family or group on the periodic table *
pickupchik [31]

Answer:

The elements become less reactive.

Explanation:

As we move from left to right across the periodic table the number of valance electrons in an atom increase. The atomic size tend to decrease in same period of periodic table because the electrons are added with in the same shell. When the electron are added, at the same time protons are also added in the nucleus. The positive charge is going to increase and this charge is greater in effect than the charge of electrons. This effect lead to the greater nuclear attraction and reactivity increases because of greater electron affinity.

As we move down the group atomic radii increased with increase of atomic number. The addition of electron in next level cause the atomic radii to increased. The hold of nucleus on valance shell become weaker because of shielding of electrons thus size of atom increased. The electron affinity decreases because of shielding effect and thus atom become less reactive.

Radioactive decay (also known as nuclear decay, radioactivity, radioactive disintegration or nuclear disintegration) is the process by which an unstable atomic nucleus loses energy by radiation. A material containing unstable nuclei is considered radioactive. Three of the most common types of decay are alpha decay (-decay), beta decay (-decay), and gamma decay (-decay), all of which involve emitting one or more particles or photons. The weak force is the mechanism that is responsible for beta decay, while the other two are governed by the usual electromagnetic and strong forces.[1]
