A stuntwoman is going to attempt a jump across a canyon that is 77 m wide. The ramp on the far side of the canyon is 25 m lower
charle [14.2K]

Answer:

  She will make the jump.

Explanation:

We have equation of motion , s= ut+\frac{1}{2} at^2, s is the displacement, u is the initial velocity, a is the acceleration and t is the time.

First we will consider horizontal motion of stunt women

   Displacement = 77 m, Initial velocity = 28 cos 15 = 27.05 m/s, acceleration = 0

Substituting

   77= 27.05t+\frac{1}{2} *0*t^2\\ \\ t=77/27.05=2.85 seconds

So she will cover 77 m in 2.85 seconds

 Now considering vertical motion, up direction as positive

    Initial velocity = 28 sin 15 = 7.25 m/s, acceleration =acceleration due to gravity = -9.8 m/s^2, time = 2.85

    Substituting

           s=7.25*2.85-\frac{1}{2}*9.8*2.85^2=20.69-39.80 =-10.11 m

  So at time 2.85 stunt women is 10.11 m below from starting position, far side is 25 m lower. So she will be at higher position.

  So she will make the jump.

Five basket ball teams are playing in a tournament. The teams will play with each other only one time. How many games will be pl
77julia77 [94]

<em>Ten games</em> will be played.

The first team can be any one of 5 .  For each of those, the opponent can be any one of the other 4 .

Number of ways to pair them up = (5 x 4) = 20 ways .

<em>BUT</em> ... Whether the Reds play the Blues, or the Blues play the Reds, it's the SAME GAME.  Each possible game shows up twice in the list of 20 ways.  So there are really only 10 different pairs ==> <em>10 games</em> .

You lower the temperature of a sample of liquid carbon disulfide from 90.3 ∘ C until its volume contracts by 0.507 % of its init
Lady_Fox [76]

Answer:

T_{f} = 85.89 ° C

Explanation:

The linear thermal expansion process is given by

      ΔL = L α ΔT

For the three-dimensional case, the expression takes the form

     ΔV = V β ΔT

Let's apply this equation to our case

     ΔV / V = -0.507% = -0.507 10-2

     ΔT = (ΔV / V)  1 /β

     ΔT = -0.507 10⁻²  1 / 1.15 10⁻³

     ΔT = -4.409

     T_{f} –T₀ = 4,409

     T_{f} = T₀ - 4,409

     T_{f} = 90.3-4409

     T_{f} = 85.89 ° C

A 70.0 kg person jumping down from a 3.00 meter wall hits the ground at 7.70 m/s. He hits the ground with stiff legs and stops i
shusha [124]

Answer:

F_{net} = 24434.783\,N

Explanation:

Let consider that the person hit the ground in the negative direction. The physical model for the impact is modelled after the Impact Theorem:

m_{person}\cdot v + Imp = 0

The impact is:

Imp = - m_{person}\cdot v

Imp = - (70\,kg)\cdot (-7.70\,\frac{m}{s} )

Imp = 539\,N\cdot s

The force of impact is derived as follows:

F_{net} = \frac{Imp}{\Delta t}

F_{net} = \frac{539\,N\cdot s}{0.023\,s}

F_{net} = 24434.783\,N
