Nine

The figure consists of 2 figures, a rectangle and a trapezoid. You should break them up and find the area of each separately and add to get the total.

Rectangle.
Area = L * W
L = 40 yd
W = 25 yd.
Area = 40 * 25 = 1000 square yards.

Trapezoid
B1 = 40 yards
B2 = 65 yards
H = 55 - 25 yards
H = 30 yards
Area = (B1 + B2)* H / 2
Area = (40 + 65)*30 / 2   Add the 2 bases together.
Area = ( 105) * 30 / 2      You can divide either the 30 or the 105 by 2. Do the 30
Area = (105) *15
Area = 1575 square yards.

Find the total Area
Total Area = rectangle + trapezoid
Total Area = 1000 + 1575
Total Area = 2575     <<<<< Answer

Ten
Comment
Assume the other side has no windows or doors. Both sides consist of 1 triangle and 1 rectangle.

Problem A
Rectangle
Area = l * w
L = 28 feet
W = 8.5 feet
Area = 28 * 8.5
Area = 238 square feet.

Triangle
Area = 1/2 Base * Height
Base = 28 feet
Height = 12.5 - 8.5
Height = 4
Area = 1/2 * 28 * 4
Area = 56 square feet.

Total Area (1 Side)
Total Area (1 Side) = 56 + 238
Total Area (1 side) = 394

Total Area (Both sides)
Total Area (both sides) = 2 * 294
Total Area (both sides) = 588 square feet.

Problem B
Comment
You have 588 square feet. First figure out the number of bundles and then calculate the cost.

Bundles
Bundles = Total Square Feet (Rounded up) / 100
Bundles = 588 / 100 = 5.88 bundles.
But you cannot buy 0.88 bundles So you have to round up, otherwise you'll have a bit of the building uncovered.

You may not care in reality, but the question does. So your answer is that you have 6 bundles.

Cost
1 bundle costs 75 dollars.
6 bundles cost x

1/6 = 75 / x
x = 6 * 75
x = 450 dollars <<<<< Answer 10B

Many identical bags of candy each contain 20 yellow, 15 red, 5 blue and 10 green candies. 15 children are each given their own c
lana66690 [7]

Answer:

0.9999

Step-by-step explanation:

Each bag has a total of 20 + 15 + 5 + 10 = 50 candies.

Each of the 15 kids get their own back and randomly pick 12 candies (without replacement)

First we are going to calculate the probability that they don't get any green candy.

P (not getting a green candy) = C₄₀,₁₂ /C₅₀,₁₂ .

Therefore, the probability of getting at least one candy is 1 - P(not getting a green candy)

P (getting at least one candy) = 1 - (C₄₀,₁₂/C₅₀,₁₂) = 1 - 0.0460 = 0.954

So the probability that one kid gets at least one green candy is 0.954

But now we need to find the probability that at least two of the 15 kids will each have at least one green candy.

To do this, we can use a binomial distribution where success will be getting at least one green candy with p = 0.954

Fail will be not getting a green candy with p = 1 -0.954 = 0.046.

k = 15

We need at least two kids to have success, so we can do P(at least 2 kids have success) = 1 - (P( X=0) + P (X=1))

P (X=0) =\left[\begin{array}{ccc}0\\15\end{array}\right] (0.954)^{0}(0.046)^{15}=  8.737103395697172336050176 × 10⁻²¹

P(X=1) = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}1\\15\end{array}\right] (0.954)^{1}(0.046)^{14} = 2.71799890418318556801908736 × 10⁻¹⁸

Therefore:

P(at least 2 kids have success) = 1 - (P( X=0) + P (X=1))

= 1 - (8.737103395697172336050176 × 10⁻²¹ + 2.71799890418318556801908736 × 10⁻¹⁸) = 0.9999

Well, the unit rate in the table is approximately 1.143 (8/7)

So, the only lines which have unit rate in between 1.143 and 2 are Line 3 (1.5) and Line 4 (1.2).
