 Three types of mechanical weathering are frost wedging when a water in rock freezes, causing the rock to crack, abrasion which is like erosion, and gravitational impact at which a glacier can grind the rock away from it's grinding against the rock's surface.

Is position a base or derived quantity?
amid [387]

Position is measured in meters (m), so it is a base quantity.

<h3>What is base quantity?</h3>

A base or fundamental  quantity is a physical quantity, in which other quantities are derived from.

Example of fundamental quantities;

  • Mass
  • Length (position)
  • Time
  • Temperature
  • Amount of substance

<h3>What is a derived quantity?</h3>

Derived quantities are those quantities obtained or expressed from fundamental quantities.

Example of derived quantities;

  • Speed
  • Acceleration
  • Volume
  • Area
  • Density, etc

Thus, we can conclude that position measured in meters (m) is a base quantity.

A square, single-turn coil 0.132 m on a side is placed with its plane perpendicular to a constant magnetic field. An emf of 27.1
marta [7]

Answer:

0.35 T

Explanation:

Side, a = 0.132 m, e = 27.1 mV = 0.0271 V, dA / dt = 0.0785 m^2 / s

Use the Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction

e = rate of change of magnetic flux

Let b be the strength of magnetic field.

e = dФ / dt

e = d ( B A) / dt

e = B x dA / dt

0.0271 = B x 0.0785

B = 0.35 T

The index of refraction of a clear plastic is listed as 1.89 in the book, but you measured the angle of incidence 63.5° and the
lakkis [162]

Answer:

<h2>index of refraction = 1.69</h2><h2>percentage error = 10.58%</h2>

Explanation:

According to Snell's law, the ratio of the sine of angle of incidence to the sine of angle of refraction is a constant for a given pair of media. The constant is known as the refractive index.

Mathematically \frac{sin i}{sin r} = n

i = angle of incidence measured = 63.5°

r = angle of refraction measured = 32°

n = refractive index

n = \frac{sin 63.5^{0} }{sin 32^{0} } \\n = \frac{0.8949}{0.5299}\\ n = 1.69

The index fraction calculated is approx. 1.69.

If the index of refraction of a clear plastic as listed in the book is 1.89 and the calculated is 1.69, the percentage error will be calculated as thus;

%error = \frac{1.89-1.69}{1.89} * 100

%error = \frac{0.2}{1.89}*100

%error  = \frac{20}{1.89}

%error  = 10.58%
