It’s just the way god created it, you can’t blame magnesium.

This is because magnesium has a 2+ charge whereas hydroxide has a 1- charge so you'd need 2 hydroxides to balance out the charges

Mg2+ OH-
OH-

2+. 2-

So Mg(OH)2. 2 hydroxide molecules and one magnesium

The Following questions pertain to a 2.2M solution of hydrocyanic acid at 25°C. pKa = 9.21 at 25°C. Find the concentrations of a
horsena [70]
1) Chemical reaction: HCN + H₂O → CN⁻ + H₃O⁺.
c(HCN) = 2,2 M = 2,2 mol/L.
pKa(HCN) = 9,21.
Ka = 6,16·10⁻¹⁰.
[CN⁻] = [H₃O⁺] = x.
[HCN<span>] = 2,2 M - x.
</span>Ka = [CN⁻] · [H₃O⁺] / [HCN].
6,16·10⁻¹⁰ = x² / 2,2 M -x.
Solve quadratic equation: [CN⁻] = [H₃O⁺] = 0,0000346 M.
[HCN] = 2,2 M - 0,0000346 M = 2,199 M.

2) pH = - log[H₃O⁺].
pH = -log( 0,0000346 M).
pH = 4,46.
Hydrocyanic acid and hydronium ion (H₃O⁺) are acids. Cyanide anion (CN⁻) is the strongest base in the system, cyanide anion accept protons in chemical reaction.
pKb = pKw - pKa.
pKb = 14 - 9,21 = 4,79.

1.806 × 10²⁴ molecules Br

<u>Step 2: Identify Conversions</u>

Avogadro's Number

<u>Step 3: Convert</u>

<u />\displaystyle 1.806 \cdot 10^{24} \ molecules \ Br(\frac{1 \ mol \ Br}{6.022 \cdot 10^{23} \ molecules \ Br} ) = 2.999 mol Br

<u>Step 4: Check</u>

<em>We are given 4 sig figs. Follow sig fig rules and round.</em>

Our final answer is already in 4 sig figs, so there is no need to round.

A reactant or is being consumed in a first-order reaction. what fraction of the initial r is consumed in 4.0 half-lives
zhannawk [14.2K]
Answer : If a reactant undergoes first order kinetics and the initial reactant was R is consumed in 4 half lives then,

the first half life would undergo from 1 to 1/2R;

the second half life will go from 1/2R to 1/4R;

in third half life it will undergo from 1/4R to 1/8R;

And finally in fourth half life it will go from 1/8R to 1/16R.

So, it means 15/16^{th} is utilized and only 1/16 R remains
