The correct option is this: THE NUCLEUS OF AN ATOM U-235 SPLITS, RESULTING IN TWO SMALLER FRAGMENTS AND THE RELEASE OF A LARGE AMOUNT OF ENERGY.
The process of nuclear fission involves the splitting of a nucleus of a radioactive element into two smaller nuclei of different elements accompany with a large release of energy. The energy released during nuclear fission is usually used to generate electricity power. <span />

Answer:

The nucleus of an atom of U-235 splits, resulting in two smaller fragments and the release of a large amount of energy

Explanation:

In the fission reaction U-235 absorbs one neutron and breaks into two new atoms (also known as  fission fragments) and three neutrons with the release of massive amount of energy.

The nuclear fission reaction is as follows:

¹₀n + ²³⁵₉₂U → ¹⁴¹₅₆Ba + ⁹²₃₉Kr + 3 ¹₀n

U-235 has a half life of 703.8 million years. In the fission reaction massive amount of energy 202.5 MeV is released.

Manganese is a transition metal. Consider the isotope: Mn-53. How many protons are in an atom of Mn-53 if the atom has a charge
Leokris [45]

Answer:

25

Explanation:

Isotopes of an element are the same element with different mass numbers but the same atomic number or the number of protons.

we know that in a balanced atom

Number of electrons = Number of protons = Atomic number

Atomic number (z) of manganese = 25

For Mn+5, the number of protons remains the same = 25

However, the number of electrons on Mn+5 = 21

Based on what you learned from this data, make a claim stating how Chlorine-35 and Chlorine-36 are the same and how they are dif
patriot [66]

Answer:

Check explanation section.

Explanation:

Isotopes are chemical species of the same elements with different number of neutrons but the same protons.

Both Chlorine-35 and Chlorine-36 are the same because they are both isotopes of the same elements that is Chlorine. Also, both Chlorine-35 and Chlorine-36 have the same number of protons which has the value equal to 17.

The difference between Chlorine-35 and Chlorine-36 is that Chlorine-35 is stable and has the abundance of 75.77% whole Chlorine-36 is found in trace.

Also Chlorine-35 has a neutrons value of 18 while that of Chlorine-36 is 19.

How does wind cause weathering?
pantera1 [17]

Hello!! WOW, what a coincidence! I just took this lesson and quiz yesterday, so the answer is still fresh in my mind!

The answer to your question is

D) Blowing sand can wear away a rock's surface and break it into smaller pieces

When wind blows, sure it can pick up dry soil and sand and relocate it, but that doesn't cause the weathering in rocks.

Wind doesn't create new landforms either, that comes from plate tectonic movements and other things.

I just eliminated B and C with the two sentences above, I really don't know how to eliminate A, just common sense i guess.

Please give me brainliest if I was correct and helpful!

Otherwise, please comment and let me know how I can fix my answer!

Thank you, it was fun, have a nice week!
