What two positive real numbers whose product is 7272 have the smallest possible sum?
nadezda [96]
\sqrt{7272} and \sqrt{7272}, or as a rounded decimal 85.28 and 85.28.

To find the smallest possible sum of roots for any product, the answer is always whatever numbers are closest together. This fact can be derived by the fact that the greatest area we can enclose with a given length is a perfect square. So we can take the square root of 7272 and use that, since they will be exactly the same number.

If you are looking for whole numbers, you would have to go up or down until you find a factor of 7272 closest to the square root. In this case that would be 72 and 101.

The hypotenuse of a 45°-45°-90° triangle measures 128 cm. A right triangle is shown. The length of the hypotenuse is 128 centime
Aleks [24]

Answer:

64√2 or 64 StartRoot 2 EndRoot

Step-by-step explanation:

A 45-45-90 traingle is a special traingle. Let's say one of the leg of the triangle is x. The other one is also x because of the isosocles triangle theorem. Therefore, using the pytagorean theorem, you find that x^2+x^2=c^2. 2(x)^2=c^2. You then square root both sides and get c= x√2.

Therefore, the two legs are x and the hypotenuse is x√2. x√2=128 because the question says that the hypotenuse is 128. Solve for x by dividing both sides by √2. X=128/√2. You rationalize it by multiplying the numberator and denominator of the fraction by √2. √2*√2= 2.

X=(128√2)/2= 64√2 cm.

Since X is the leg, the answer would be 64√2

Which vector best describes the translation below?
Nimfa-mama [501]

Answer: Choice A) <9,0>

Explanation:

Focus on one of the points in the figure on the left. Let's say we go for the upper left corner point (-7, 4)

Notice it moves to the corresponding image point (2,4). It has shifted 9 units to the right to follow the translation rule (x,y) \to (x+9, y). We've added 9 to the x coordinate, and the y coordinate stays the same.

This notation can be shortened to <9, 0>

In general, the notation (x,y) \to (x+a, y+b) is shortened to the translation vector notation < a, b >. In this case, a = 9 and b = 0.
