Answer:

The correct answer is - random mating individuals pair by chance, not according to their genotypes or phenotypes.

Explanation:

Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium explains that if there are no other evolutionary influences on the population then the frequency of genotype in a specific population remains constant over generations.

The assumptions according to this principle are mention as follow -

-No natural selection.

-no mutation.

-The population size should be large.

-There should be random mating

-No gene flow.

The correct answer is - random mating individuals pair by chance, not according to their genotypes or phenotypes.

Which is part of the theory of evolution by natural selection?
Katen [24]

Answer:

The correct answer is: A. Only the best-adapted animals in a population survive.

Explanation:

  • Natural Selection is the process by which the individuals of a species which has the potential to sustain and survive in adverse or changing environment gets a survival advantage over those individuals which are unable to adapt themselves to altered environmental conditions.
  • As the less potent individuals die in altered environmental conditions the  adaptable individuals escapes competition with them for natural resources.
  • Evolution causes species to alter their characteristics depending upon the demand of the conditions. These changes can vary, can be less or drastic.
  • Animals pass all the newly adapted traits to the successive generations either as genetic traits or as acquired traits, as this is necessary for the offspring to survive in the altered environment.
  • Natural selection is best defined as "the survival of the fittest".

How does genetic diversity affect biodiversity in an area provide an example
ra1l [238]

When humans farm large plantation of one cash crop, they reduce the biodiversity of the region because they reduce the genetic diversity of the species in the environment. A reduction in genetic diversity means that the genetic variability of the species is reduced  hence there are fewer sub-species in the environment. This ultimately reduces the biodiversity of the ecosystem -  which is the variability among all the living organisms in the environment.
