When a fraction corresponds to a repeating decimal, it's denominator is 9 or 99.

For example, 4/11 = 36/99 = 0.36 with bar notation over 36.

Example #2: 2/3 = 6/9 = 0.666....
or also written as 0.6 with bar notation over 6.

You know a fraction responds to a terminating decimal because it can be simplified to a terminating decimal.

Example: 2/4 = 0.5

David, Ben, and Jordan shared stickers in a ratio of 8 : 9 : 10. If Ben had 36 stickers, how many stickers did Jordan have?
pantera1 [17]

Answer:

Jordan had 40 stickers.

Step-by-step explanation:

For this ratio, we have David:Ben:Jordan as 8:9:10, and so we need to make it as a more complex fraction, 8/9/10, now we need a multiplier to get us from 9 stickers of Jordan to 36, like a giant one. The common multiplier in this case is 4, and we know that the values must always stay proportional. We multiply everything by 4,and we get a final ratio of 32:36:40, and since Jordan is the last in the ratio David:Ben:Jordan, Jordan ends up with 40 stickers.

If f(x) = 6x-11, what is f(-6)?
In-s [12.5K]

If f(x) = (6x-11), then f(-6) = -47.

We are provided in the question statement with a function "f(x)" whose output is a polynomial of 1 variable and degree 1.

To obtain the value of f(-6) from the output polynomial of the function f(x), we will simply need to substitute (-6) as the value of x in the polynomial and calculate the final value.

So,

f(-6)=[(6*(-6))-11]\\or, f(-6)=(-36-11)\\or, f(-6)=-(36+11)\\or, f(-6) =-47

Hence, f(-6) = -47.

  • Polynomial: In mathematics, an expression of more than two algebraic terms, especially the sum of several terms that contain the same variable(s) of different powers and individual, distinct co-efficients.
  • Function: In Mathematics, a function is an operator which on taking input, provides a certain output.
