The answer is reduced. In a redox reaction, the reduction is the gaining of a proton in a reaction or losing of electrons while oxidation is the gaining of electrons or losing of a proton. In other words, it is the transformation in the oxidation number between the reactants and the products. Carbon dioxide in photosynthesis gains protons (hydrogen) from water molecules hence it is reduced. See reaction below;

Justification:

1) Reduction is the reduction of the oxidation state, which occurs by gain of electrons.

2) Oxidation is the increase of the oxidation state, which occurs by the loss of electrons.

3) In the photosynthesis, CO₂ reacts with water (in the presence of light) to form glucose and oxygen according to this equation:

CO₂ + H₂O ---> C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6 O₂

4) The oxidation number of C in CO₂ is +4, while the oxidation number of C in C₆H₂O₆ is 0. So, the oxidation number of C has been reduced from +4 to 0, which is what is defined by reduction.

The reaction of 0.779 g K with O2 forms 1.417 g potassium superoxide, a substance used in self-contained breathing devices. Dete
zhannawk [14.2K]
First we need to find the number of moles of both K and O reacted
K - 0.779 g / 39 g/mol
  = 0.02 mol
the mass of O₂ reacted = 1.417 g - 0.779 g = 0.638 g
O₂ moles = 0.638 g / 32 g/mol
               = 0.02 mol
the number of both K and O₂ moles reacted are equal
therefore stoichiometry of K to O₂ reacted are 1:1
then the formula of potassium superoxide is KO₂

If 1.45 moles of Sodium Bromide are added to a 7.5 M solution, what is the volume of the solution made?
timurjin [86]

Answer:

0.193 L

Explanation:

Another way of writing the question would be: What volume of a 7.5 M Sodium Bromide solution would contain 1.45 moles.

To answer that we can use the definition of molarity:

  • Molarity = moles / liters

We input the given data:

  • 7.5 M = 1.45 moles / liters

And calculate how many liters are required:

  • 1.45 mol / 7.5 M = 0.193 L

The table below shows a comparison of the different gas laws. Some cells have been left blank.
Mumz [18]
The combined gas equation relates three variables pressure, temperature and volume when the number of moles is constant.

The equation is PV / T = constant. Which is valid for a fixed number of moles of the gas.

You can derive the combined gas equation from the combination of Bolye's law, Charles' law and Gay-Lussac's law, which needs some algebra.

Answer: option 2. number of moles.
