Since she is planning on making 3 meatballs per person and there is gonna be 40 people, we would need to multiply, like this:

40x3=?

And you should get 120 as your total

Next if she spends $39 at the store and each pound of meat is $3.25 we would need to know how many pounds of meat she bought so we would need to divide like this:

39/3.25=?

Your answer should be, 12 pounds

So now we know how much meatballs she is gonna make total, and how many pounds of meat she has.

To find out the size of each meatball we of course would need to divide the pounds of meat by the number of meatballs she is going to make:

12/120=0.1

The answer should be, Mrs.Barrett should make each meatball, 0.1 pounds.
