Hi Zahra, I've found a very simple and effective way of calculating percentages. 78% refers to 78 out of every 100, which can also be written as "0.78". Now, we can simply multiply 0.78 by your number (975) to get 760.5 students. Obviously, there isn't a half a student, so we round that number up to 761. So 761 out of 975 students do their homework before 10:00.

The Wall Street Journal reports that 33% of taxpayers with adjusted gross incomes between $30,000 and $60,000 itemized deduction
Len [333]

Answer:

(a) <em>                             </em><em>n</em> :      20           50          100         500

P (-200 < <em>X</em> - <em>μ </em>< 200) : 0.2886    0.4444    0.5954    0.9376

(b) The correct option is (b).

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the random variable <em>X</em> represent the amount of deductions for taxpayers with adjusted gross incomes between $30,000 and $60,000 itemized deductions on their federal income tax return.

The mean amount of deductions is, <em>μ</em> = $16,642 and standard deviation is, <em>σ</em> = $2,400.

Assuming that the random variable <em>X </em>follows a normal distribution.

(a)

Compute the probability that a sample of taxpayers from this income group who have itemized deductions will show a sample mean within $200 of the population mean as follows:

  • For a sample size of <em>n</em> = 20

P(\mu-200

                                           =P(-0.37

  • For a sample size of <em>n</em> = 50

P(\mu-200

                                           =P(-0.59

  • For a sample size of <em>n</em> = 100

P(\mu-200

                                           =P(-0.83

  • For a sample size of <em>n</em> = 500

P(\mu-200

                                           =P(-1.86

<em>                                  n</em> :      20           50          100         500

P (-200 < <em>X</em> - <em>μ </em>< 200) : 0.2886    0.4444    0.5954    0.9376

(b)

The law of large numbers, in probability concept, states that as we increase the sample size, the mean of the sample (\bar x) approaches the whole population mean (\mu_{x}).

Consider the probabilities computed in part (a).

As the sample size increases from 20 to 500 the probability that the sample mean is within $200 of the population mean gets closer to 1.

So, a larger sample increases the probability that the sample mean will be within a specified distance of the population mean.

Thus, the correct option is (b).

Prove the triangles are congruent
frozen [14]

Answer:

1: two sides and angle of one triangle are congruent.

Step-by-step explanation:

The triangles are congruent because two sides and the generated angle of a triangle correspond to their respective sections. If two angles and the side used in one triangle are identical.

Hope this helps

Answer:

\textbf{The slope of the parallel line is given by $ 2 $}\\

Step-by-step explanation:

\textup{The slope of any two parallel lines are equal and they only differ in their $y- intercepts$. }\\\textup{Given $y = 2x + 4 $}\\\textup{This is  comparable to $y = mx + c$, where $m$ is the slope of that line.}\\\textup{Therefore, the slope of the given line and any line parallel to it is $ 2$.}

The owners of an industrial plant want to determine which of two types of fuel (gas or electricity) will produce more useful ene
madreJ [45]

Answer:

d. H0: (\mu_e - \mu_g) = 0 vs. Ha: (\mu_e - \mu_g) \neq 0

Step-by-step explanation:

A hypothesis is defined as "a speculation or theory based on insufficient evidence that lends itself to further testing and experimentation. With further testing, a hypothesis can usually be proven true or false".

The null hypothesis is defined as "a hypothesis that says there is no statistical significance between the two variables in the hypothesis. It is the hypothesis that the researcher is trying to disprove".

The alternative hypothesis is "just the inverse, or opposite, of the null hypothesis. It is the hypothesis that researcher is trying to prove".

On this case the Management try to determine if there is a difference in the average investment/quad between using electricity and using gas. So this needs to be on the alternative hypothesis. And the complement of the alternative hypothesis would be on the null hypothesis.

Null hypothesis :\mu_e = \mu_g

Alternative hypothesis: \mu_e \neq \mu_g

Or equivalently:

Null hypothesis :\mu_e - \mu_g = 0

Alternative hypothesis: \mu_e - \mu_g \neq 0

Other important thing is that on the alternative hypothesis we never can have the symbol equal.

So on this case the best options is:

d. H0: (\mu_e - \mu_g) = 0 vs. Ha: (\mu_e - \mu_g) \neq 0
