Each of the 6 cats in a pet store was weighed. Here are their weights
zhannawk [14.2K]

Answer:

Mean= 10.83

Median= 9.5

Step-by-step explanation:

Given number,

10, 15, 8, 11, 9, 12

N= 6

As we know,

Mean= Ex/N

=10+15+8+11+9+12/6

=65/6

=10.83

Therefore, Mean= 10.83

Now,

Median(MD)= (N+1/2)th item

= 6+1/2

=7/2

=3.5th item

So, Median(MD)= 3th+4th/2 item

= 8+11/2

= 19/2

= 9.5

Therefore, Median= 9.5

The sides of a triangle have lengths 2x + 2, 4x, and 5x + 1. The longest side of the triangle has a length of 5x + 1. For what v
Savatey [412]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

(5x+1)²>(2x+2)²+(4x)²

25x²+10x+1>4x²+8x+4+16x²

5x²+2x-3>0

5x²+5x-3x-3>0

5x(x+1)-3(x+1)>0

(x+1)(5x-3)>0

x+1=0,gives x=-1

5x-3=0,gives x=3/5

x >0(because 4x should be >0)

side is always positive.

so x>3/5

again 5x+1<2x+2+4x

5x-6x<2-1

-x<1

x>-1

x=all real values >3/5

How does a small outlier affect the data set?
leva [86]
A small outlier could affect the whole data set because it could reduce the mean, or make the average of the whole data set smaller.

An example would be the data set could be 1, 8, 9, 10

To find the mean you would add everything together then divide it by the number of numbers you just added together. The mean of this set would be 28/4 which equals 7. Now, if the outlier were -8 instead of 1, then the mean would be much different.

~Hope this helped!~

How to solve -7/8 + 1/4 like I need to know how to do it not just the answer
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]

Answer:

-5/8

Step-by-step explanation:

So basically with fractions that have different denominators you have to find the GCF (greatest common factor) of both of them, in this case 8 would be a GCF because it you times 4 and 2 you get a whole number of 8. since we found out the GCF we want to set them equal. so take the 1/4 and multiply both the top and bottom by 2, so we end with 2/8. You set the equation back up (-7/8) + (2/8). and combine the numerators -7+2/8 which ends you with with the answer of (-5/8) :)
