Let, the amount of money grade 2 raised be $x.

Given, grade 4 raised $112 more than grade 2.

So the amount of money grade 4 raised = $(x+112).

Also given, grade 3 raised $84 more than grade 4.

So the amount of money grade 3 raised = $(x+112+84).

In the problem given, grade 3 raised $360.

We can write the equation as,

x+112+84 = 360

x+196 = 360

We can get x by moving 196 to the right side. As 196 is added there so we will subtract 196 from both sides to get x.

x+196-196 = 360-196

x = 360-196

x = 164

So we have got the required answer.

Grade 2 raised $164.

There are 20 entries in the chess tournament. How many ways can they finish in first, second,
Romashka [77]

Answer:

6840

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, the order matters (1st, 2nd, and 3rd), so we need to use permutations.

There are 20 people who can get in first place.  After that, there are 19 people who can get in second place.  Finally, there are 18 people who can get in third place.  So:

20 * 19 * 18 = 6840

Please help ASAP please give both answers :)
atroni [7]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

If we want to share £5 to the ratio of 1/3 we should follow this steps :

  • our ratio is 1/3 so we should add 1 and 3 together to find the total number of parts : 1+3=4
  • divide the total amount by the number of parts : 5/4 = 1.25
  • multiply each number in the ratio by 1.25 : 1.25*1=1.25 and 1.25*3=3.75

the answer is 1.25 and 3.75

It was obvious from the beginning that the answer would be the last one since ut had two numbers

  • following the same steps you get again in the second question :

6 ; 14

If 7 beans were on your plate, and you took away 2 bananas, how many apples are left?
Tasya [4]

Answer:

4 tacos

Step-by-step explanation:

according to the converse of triangle proportionality theorem, 7 beans is equivalent to 5 bananas, so if we took 2 away we would be left with 4 tacos, not apples because an apple a day keeps the doctor away and we are in a pandemic right now

Find the equation of the line that is parallel to the given line and passes through the given point
Sati [7]

Answer:

\huge\boxed{y=-\dfrac{1}{4}x-1\to x+4y=-4}

Step-by-step explanation:

\text{Let}\ k:y=m_1x+b_1;\ l:y=m_2x+b_2\\\\l\ ||\ k\iff m_1=m_2\\\\l\ \perp\ k\iff m_1m_2=-1\to m_2=-\dfrac{1}{m_1}\\==========================\\\\\text{We have}\ x+4y=-6.\\\text{Convert to the slope-intercept form:}\\\\x+4y=-6\qquad\text{subtract}\ x\ \text{from both sides}\\\\4y=-x-6\qquad\text{divide both sides by 4}\\\\y=\dfrac{-x}{4}-\dfrac{6}{4}\\\\y=-\dfrac{1}{4}x-\dfrac{3}{2}\to m_1=-\dfrac{1}{4}

\text{Lines are to be parallel. Therefore}\ m_2=-\dfrac{1}{4}.\\\\\text{We initially have the form equation}\ y=-\dfrac{1}{4}x+b.\\\\\text{The line passes through the point}\ (9,\ -3).\\\\\text{Substitute the coordinates of the point to the equation of a line:}\\\\x=9,\ y=-3\\\\-3=-\dfrac{1}{4}(9)+b\\\\-3=-\dfrac{9}{4}+b\qquad\text{add}\ \dfrac{9}{4}\ \text{to both sides}\\\\-\dfrac{12}{4}+\dfrac{9}{4}=b\to b=-\dfrac{3}{4}

\text{Lines are to be parallel. Therefore}\ m_2=-\dfrac{1}{4}.\\\\\text{We initially have the form equation}\ y=-\dfrac{1}{4}x+b.\\\\\text{The line passes through the point}\ (8,\ -3).\\\\\text{Substitute the coordinates of the point to the equation of a line:}

x=8,\ y=-3\\\\-3=-\dfrac{1}{4}(8)+b\\\\-3=-2+b\qquad\text{add 2 to both sides}\\\\-1=b\to b=-1

\text{Therefore the equation is:}\ y=-\dfrac{1}{4}x-1.\\\\\text{Convert to the standard form}\ Ax+By=C:\\\\y=-\dfrac{1}{4}x-1\qquad\text{multiply both sides by 4}\\\\4y=-x-4\qquad\text{add}\ x\ \text{to both sides}\\\\x+4y=-4
