Answer:

many cognitive abilities emerge earlier in children than Piaget thought

Explanation:

Piaget's theory of cognitive development can be seen as a theory which focus its attention on children especially on how children acquire knowledge as well as the nature of their intelligent which was why it suggest that children often move through four different stages of development due to the fact that the theory focus mainly about the nature as well as how human intelligence is developed and how humans start to acquire and use it.

Therefore one of the most important criticism of Piaget theory of development about children was that MANY COGNITIVE ABILITIES EMERGE EARLIER IN CHILDREN THAN PIAGET THOUGHT because researchers believes that children can actually develop many cognitive abilities or skill by progressive building up of their learning abilities such as attention, memory which inturn enable children to process sensory information and learn to evaluate, analyze, remembers as well as understand how things happen.

Researcher also believe that children acquire more abilities during the preschool years than Piaget had originally stated and that cognitive development is considerably more continuous than Piaget claimed because children tend to understand symbols at an earlier age than was previously thought.
