I believe if you first limit the amount of cigarettes before flat out just stopping, it will help. For example, if you smoke a pack a day, than only smoke 1/4 of a pack. then, the next day only 1/8 of a pack, then no more. They can have a loved one hide all their lighters and cigarettes. They can use nicotine patches until the withdrawal symptoms go away, or possibly use a vape instead, as they are better for you than cigarettes.

I think the most effective way to quit smoking would be to gradually reduce the amount you quit each day, say if you smoke 20 cigarettes a day, knock it down to 19 tomorrow, 18 the next day and so forth. Even though this still exposes you to Nicotine for a much longer time period, in my opinion, this is the option that will least likely draw you back to smoking in the long run. Unlike other options such as quitting "cold turkey" the smoked will be itching for another fix of nicotine. Or Nicotine Replacement Therapy, where you just use nicotine gum of spray or patches, NRT only has a 25% success rate when it comes to helping people not smoke. Therefore I think Gradual Reduction would be the best option.

This is what I put as my answer and it gave me a 100%
