Kw = 10^-14 so IF [OH-] changes from 10^-9 to 10^-10 the [H+] will have to change from 10^-5 to 10^-4

Answer: [H+] increases by 0.001 M

Explanation: here [OH-] change: 10^-9 to 10^-11

That means OH- decreased, hence [H+] increases

If [OH-]=10^-9, then [H+]=10^-14/[OH-]= 10^-14/10^-9= 10^-5 M

If OH-=10^-11, then [H+]=10^-14/10^-11=10^-3 M

So H+ increases by 10^-3 M or 0.001 M

Give the formula of the conjugate base of each of the following. (Type your answer using the format CO2 for CO2, (NH4)2CO3 for (
MissTica

Answer:

a) [NH2]-,

b) [O]2-

c) [Cl]-

Explanation:

The conjugate base is the base member (X⁻) of a weak acid (HX). In other words, the conjugate base is the remaining substance due to the proton loss in the acid HX.

a) For NH₃, (HX; X: NH₂⁻), conjugate base is NH₂⁻. In the format, <em>[NH2]-</em>.

b) For OH⁻, (HX; X: O²⁻), conjugate base is O²⁻. In the format,<em> [O]2-</em>.

c) For HCl, (HX; X: Cl⁻), conjugate base is Cl⁻. In the format, <em>[Cl]-</em>.

If excess sodium is added to 0.10 L of 1.00 M hydrochloric acid solution, how many moles of NaCl is formed?
Ksenya-84 [330]

Answer:

=> 0.10 moles

Explanation:

The question is asking us to find the moles of NaCl cid formed.

We have been provided with;

0.10 L of 1.0 M NaOH.

We know that mole ratio of the reaction is 1:1 and also the molarity of a solution is contained in 1 L or 1000 mL or 1000 cm³.

This means that;

1.0 M is contained in 1.0 L.

X mol is contained in 0.10 L

x \: mol \:  =  \frac{0.1 \times 1.0}{1.0}  \\  = 0.10 \: mol

= 0.10 moles of NaCl formed
