Tracy needs to find the length and width of the equipment storage room where she works. The room is 2 m longer than it is wide.

It’s perimeter is 24 m. What is the width in meters?

Let the width be w. Therefore we can right the length as w+2=l. We know the formula for perimeter is 2w + 2l = P. We can fill this formula in to help solve this problem with the pieces we have.

2w+2(w+2)=24

2w+2w+4=24

4w=20

w=5

So, we now know the width of the room. Next, lets plug that into the perimeter equation again and solve for the length now.

2(5) + 2l = 24

10 + 2l = 24

2l = 14

l=7

So the width is 5m and the length is 7m.

alexandr1967 [171]

Answer:

The conditions for the approximation have been met

Step-by-step explanation:

Random samples on both cases and

p∧o proportion of bags packaged on the old machine that are damaged

p∧n sample proportion of bags packaged on the new machine that are damaged

p∧c  =  ( p∧o + p∧n ) / (nO + nN )

p∧o = 15 %      p∧o =  0,15         nO = 150

p∧o *  nO = 0,15 *150          p∧o *  nO = 22,5

p∧n  = 8 %      p∧n  = 0,08     nN = 200

p∧n*nN  = 0,08 * 200     p∧n*nN  = 16

Both p∧n*nN and p∧o * nO are bigger than 5

Therefore both samples are big enough for the approximation of the binomial distribution to normal distribution

teacher gives 5 students a multiple choice test, in which each problem is worth 1 point and there is no penalty with negative po
mamaluj [8]

The mean is the average value of a given set of numbers, and the median is the number in the middle of a set of numbers arranged in increasing order

The correct values as response to the questions are;

The minimum possible top score is 21

The maximum possible top score is 32

The minimum of the possible standard deviation is approximately 1.26

The maximum of the possible standard deviation is approximately 11.7

The reason the above values are correct are as follows:

The given parameters are;

The number of students that take the test, n = 5

The amount of points for each problem = 1 point

The median score = 9

The mean Score = 10

Required:

The minimum possible score;

The maximum possible top score

The minimum of the possible standard deviations

The maximum of the possible standard deviations

Solution:

Given that there is a score (the median) which is 9, we have;

The scores obtainable in the test is Scores ≥ 9

Therefore, for a score of 10, we have;

The minimum total points obtainable = Mean × Number of students

Therefore;

Total minimum total points obtainable by the 5 students = 5 × 10 = 50

  • The minimum possible top score

By arrangement, with the median at the middle, the minimum possible top score is given as follows;

0, 0, 9, 20, 21

Therefore, the minimum possible top score is 21

  • The maximum possible top score

The maximum possible top score is similarly given by arrangement of the numbers as follows'

0, 0, 9, 9, 32

The maximum possible top score is 32

  • The minimum standard deviation

By arrangement and selection, the minimum standard deviation is given as follows;

The minimum of the possible standard deviations of (9, 9, 9, 11, 12) ≈ 1.26

  • The maximum of the possible standard deviation

The maximum of the possible standard deviation is given as follows;

The maximum of the possible standard deviation of (0, 0, 9, 9, 32) ≈ 11.7

What is the value of z in the equation 2(4z − 3 − 1) = 166 − 46?
shepuryov [24]

Refine 2(4z-3-1)

= 2(4z-4)

Refine : 166 - 16 = 120

therefore:

2(z-4) = 120

Divide both sides by 2 :

\frac{2(z-4)}{2} =  \frac{120}{2}

4z-4 = 60

add 4  to both sides:

4z-4+4 = 60+4

4z = 64

Divide both sides by 4 :

\frac{4z}{4} =  \frac{64}{4}

z = 16

hope this helps!
