PLEASE HELP ASAP!!! CORRECT ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE!!!
BabaBlast [244]

Hey!

Weight of small box = 5 lb. x no. of small boxes total weight = 5*x

Weight of Large boxes = 12 lb. y no. of large boxes total weight = 12*y

Total weight = 5x + 12y.

Since total weight carrying capacity of shelf is 80, thus the inequality becomes:

5x + 12y Less than or equal to 80.

(a) satisfies the inequality.

(b) satisfies the inequality.

Hope my answer helps!

Why do some numerical expressions contain parentheses
Elden [556K]

The most basic and common reason to use parentheses, brackets, and braces is to control the order of operations.

What are parentheses?

In mathematics, parenthesis is used to arrange numbers in the sequence of operations, clarify numbers, and denote multiplication.

Suppose you have an expression as:-

E = { ( 5-2 )8} 6

In this case, you would calculate 5 minus 2 first (parentheses), then multiply by 8 (brackets), then complete the part inside the curly braces, and finally multiply by 6.

Therefore the most basic and common reason to use parentheses, brackets, and braces is to control the order of operations.

Zeek then want to ride his bike to the old spaghetti factory. He wondering if he should bike 1 mile north, then 0.5 miles direct
frosja888 [35]

Answer:

He should travel directly

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

x = 0.5 --- East

y =1 --- North

If he goes through east north direction, the distance (d) traveled is:

d = x + y

d = 0.5 + 1

d = 1.5 mile

If he travels directly, the distance (d) is:

d = \sqrt{x^2 + y^2} ---- Pythagoras theorem

d = \sqrt{0.5^2 + 1^2}

d = \sqrt{0.25 + 1}

d = \sqrt{1.25}

d = 1.12mile

By comparison, he will travel the shortest distance if he travels directly because 1.12 < 1.5

Hence, he should travel directly
