Calculate the momentum of a 2000-kg elephant charging a hunter at a speed of 7.50 m/s . (b) compare the elephant's momentum with

the momentum of a 0.0400-kg tranquilizer dart fired at a speed of 600 m/s . (c) what is the momentum of the 90.0-kg hunter running at 7.40 m/s after missing the elephant?

(a) The momentum of a moving object is given by:

p=mv

where m is the mass of the object and v is its speed. In this problem, the mass of the elephant is m=2000 kg and its speed is v=7.50 m/s, therefore its momentum is

p=(2000 kg)(7.50 m/s)=15000 kg m/s

(b) We can use the same formula to calculate the momentum of the tranquilizer dart, whose mass is m=0.04 kg and whose speed is v=600 m/s:

p=mv=(0.04 kg)(600 m/s)=24 kg m/s

we see that the elephant's momentum is much larger than the momentum of the dart.

(c) Again, using the same formula, the mass of the hunter is m=90 kg, his speed is v=7.40 m/s, therefore his momentum is

p=mv=(90 kg)(7.40 m/s)=666 kg m/s

When the temperature of an ideal gas is increased, the pressure also ________
kherson [118]
<h2>Answer: increases  </h2><h2 />

Explanation:

The expression for an Ideal Gas is:

P.V=n.R.T

Where:

P is the pressure of the gas

V is the volume of the gas

n the number of moles of gas

R is the gas constant

T is the absolute temperature of the gas

As we can see, there is a <u>direct proportional relation between the temperature and the pressure</u>, which means that if the temperature increases the pressure of the gas increases as well.

However, it is important to note this is fulfilled if and only<u> if the volume of the container where the ideal gas is, remains constant.</u>

The maximum depth d_max that a diver can snorkel is set by the density of the water and the fact that human lungs can function a
kobusy [5.1K]

Answer:

0.17214 m

Explanation:

P = Pressure difference between inside and outside the chest cavity = 0.05 atm

\rho = Density of fresh water = 1000 kg/m³

\rho_d = Density of water in the Dead Sea= 1500 kg/m³

h = Height

In fresh water

P=\rho gh_1\\\Rightarrow h_1=\dfrac{P}{\rho g}\\\Rightarrow h_1=\dfrac{0.05\times 101325}{1000\times 9.81}\\\Rightarrow h_1=0.51643\ m

In dead sea

P=\rho_d gh_2\\\Rightarrow h_2=\dfrac{P}{\rho_d g}\\\Rightarrow h_2=\dfrac{0.05\times 101325}{1500\times 9.81}\\\Rightarrow h_2=0.34429\ m

The difference in height is 0.51643-0.34429 = 0.17214 m

A box of mass 84 kg is at rest on a horizontal frictionless surface. A constant horizontal force F then acts on the box and acce
Mila [183]

Answer:

The magnitude of force is 571.2 N.

Explanation:

Given data :-

i) Mass of the box = 84 kg.

ii) Frictionless surface means  friction force is zero.

iii)The force ( F ) which act on box = m*a.

iv) The time for which the box is in motion ( t ) = 5 seconds.

v) The distance traveled by box ( S ) = 85 meter.

Now to find magnitude of force we have to calculate the value of acceleration.

We know the equation of motion.

S = (u*t )+0.5 (a*t²)

85 = 0 + 0.5 * a *5²     ( u = initial velocity = 0 )

a = 6.8 m²/s.

∴ F = m*a = 84 * 6.8 = 571.2 N
