Jasmine starts with $500 and earns an additional amount.
The additional amount is 5% of her sales (s)
5% of her sales can be represented by .05s
Jasmine will earn $500 + .05s
and she wants to earn greater than $700 so
$500 + .05s > $700

a boat takes 8 hours to go 6 miles upstream and come back to the starting point. if the speed of the boat is 4 miles per hour in
Romashka-Z-Leto [24]
Consider this option:
1. if to re-write the condition, it is given: total time t=8 hours; upstream=downstream=6 miles; V_boat=4 m/h., V_current=V=?
2. note, that total time=time_upstream+time_downstream, where time_upstream=6miles/(V_boat-V) and time_downstream=6miles/(V_boat+V). Using this it is possible to make up and solve the following equation:
\frac{6}{4+V} + \frac{6}{4-V} =8; \ =\ \textgreater \  \  \frac{V^2-10}{16-V^2}=0; \ =\ \textgreater \  \ V=\sqrt{10} \  \frac{miles}{hour}

answer: √10

P.S. the roots of the equation are √10 and (-√10), only positive values is needed for V.

Mr. miller has $25 in his savings and wants to put $10 every week into the account. write an equation showing how much money he
iris [78.8K]
The equation you write would be linear, and would be written in slope intercept form y=mx+b. Since Mr. Miller already has $25, we plug that in for "b" in the equation. We plug 10 in for "m", because "x" represents the number of weeks he has been saving. The equation would be y=10x+25. To find how much money Mr. Miller will have in 7 weeks, plug in 7 for x. y=10(7)+25 -> y=70+25 -> y=95 -> $95
