Model, Inc., produces model automobiles made from metal. It operates two production departments, Molding and Painting, and has t

hree service departments, Administration, Accounting, and Maintenance. The accumulated costs in the three service departments were $269,000, $402,000, and $199,000, respectively. Management is concerned that the costs of its service departments are getting too high. In particular, managers would like to keep the costs of service departments under $3.50 per unit on average. You have been asked to allocate service department costs to the two production departments and compute the unit costs.
The company decided that Administration costs should be allocated on the basis of square footage used by each production and service department. Accounting costs are allocated on the basis of number of employees. Maintenance costs are allocated on the basis of the dollar value of the equipment in each department. The use of each base by all departments during the current period follows:
Used by
Allocation Base Administration Accounting Maintenance Molding Painting
Building area 12,000 63,000 69,300 441,000 56,700
Employees 44 14 22 66 88
Equipment value $ 177.00 $ 236.00 $ 17.50 $ 118.00 $ 59.00
(in thousands)
Direct costs of the Molding Department included $242,500 in direct materials, $327,500 in direct labor, and $105,000 in overhead. The Painting Department’s direct costs consisted of $211,000 in direct materials, $219,000 in direct labor, and $82,500 in overhead.
Required:
Using the step method, determine the allocated costs and the total costs in each of the two producing departments. Ignore self-usage (for example, ignore work done by Administration for itself). Rank order the allocation as follows: (1) Maintenance, (2) Accounting, and (3) Administration

First we find the activity rates for each cost using total cost driver except self usage

1) Maintenance $ 199,000

Equipment Value= 177 + 236+ 118+ 59= 590 ( in thousands) ( all but maintenance itself )

Maintenance per equipment = 199,000/590,000= 0.3373 per equipment

2) Accounting,= $402,000,

Employees=44 + 22 + 66 + 88 = 220

Accounting per Employee= $402,000,/220= 1827.27 per Employee

3) Administration= $269,000

Building area =63,000 +69,300 +441,000+ 56,700= 630,000

Administration per square footage= 269,000/ 630,000= 0.4269= 0.43 per square

Suppose that borrowing is restricted so that the zero-beta version of the CAPM holds. The expected return on the market portfoli
raketka [301]

Answer:

10.4%

Explanation:

The computation of expected return on a portfolio is shown below:-

Expected return = Risk Free return + 5%Beta ( Market Return - Risk Free return)

= 5% + 0.60 × (17% - 8%)

= 5% + 5.4%

= 10.4%

Therefore for computing the expected return on a portfolio with a beta of .6 we simply applied the above formula.

The market return less risk free return is known as market risk premium

ANTONII [103]

Answer:

Explanation:

Amount he can spend on tacos = income - total price of milkshakes

total price of milkshakes = 2 x 10 = 20

100 - 20 = 80

the audit expectation gap is caused by unrealistic user expectations. what example would not be included in an unrealistic user
Tomtit [17]

The audit expectation gap is caused by unrealistic user expectations. The auditors provides reasonable gap examples that would not be included in unrealistic user expectations.

NASBA believes the expectancy gap relating to fraud and going problems in a financial statement audit may be caused by a few factors: lack of knowledge by way of the general public as to what an audit is and what auditors do; inconsistent audit execution in these regions by some auditors due to lack of expertise.

The expectation hole exists while auditors and the public keep distinct beliefs about the auditors' obligations and obligations and the messages conveyed by way of audit reports. apparently, there's an opening between what the public expects and what it virtually receives.

Novak Corp. bought equipment on January 1, 2022. The equipment cost $390000 and had an expected salvage value of $35000. The lif
nirvana33 [79]

Answer:

$177,000

Explanation:

In order to find the book value of the equipment we need to find the amount of depreciation per year. To do this we need to subtract the salvage value from the initial cost and then simply divide by 5 which is the life span of the equipment...

(390,000 - 35,000) / 5 = x

355,000 / 5 = x

71,000 = x

Now we see that the equipment will depreciate by $71,000 per year. In three years the depreciation would be

71,000 * 3 = 213,000

Now we simply subtract this value from the initial cost to get the book value in the third year

390,000 - 213,000 = 177,000
