We have been given work of Riley. By looking at his work carefully, we have to identify the error. So let's start from beginning.

\frac{x}{x^2-5x+6}+ \frac{3}{x+3}

First line is just the question so there will be no error.

After that we try to factor denominators

STEP1: \frac{x}{(x-2)(x-3)}+ \frac{3}{x+3}

Factors are correct so no error in step1.

In step2, we have to find the common denominator which will be (x-2)(x-3)(x+3)

so that means she needs to multiply and divide 2nd term by (x-2)(x-3) while she multiplied by only (x-2). Which means she used wrong common denominator.

<u>Hence final answer will be "B. She used the wrong common denominator."</u>

Step2247 [10]

Answer:

reflected over the x-axis, compressed horizontally by a factor of 1/2.

Step-by-step explanation:

y(x) and f(x) means the same.

y = -(2x) means that y(x) was multiplied by -1, and x was replaced by 2x

  • -y(x) reflects y(x) across x-axis
  • y(a*x) compresses horizontally y(x) by a factor of 1/a. Here, a is 2, then the factor is 1/2.

a Members of a soccer team raised $1530.50 to go to a tournament. They rented a bus for $1164.50 and budgeted $30.50 per player
Helen [10]

The number of players that can be taken to the tournament is 12 players.

The equation that can be used to represent the total amount spent by the soccer team is:

Total amount spent = cost of rented bus + (cost per meal x total number of players)

$1530.50 = $1164.50 + $30.50x

Where: x = total number of player

In order to determine the value of x, the following steps would be taken:

Combine similar terms

$1530.50 - $1164.50 = $30.50x

$366 = $30.50x

Divide both sides of the equation by 30.50

x = $366 / $30.50

x = 12 players

Find the perimeter of the square. 5(x+2). x+2(x+8)
erma4kov [3.2K]

Answer:

The length of each of the 4 sides of a square is the same.  Then

5x - 8 = 3x

2x = 8

x = 4

5(4) - 8 = 12

3(4) = 12

The length of each side is

L = 4.

The perimeter is 4 times the length.

P = 4L = 4(4) = 16
