The treatment intervention that should be provided to a
client diagnosed with Cushing’s disease is that it is best to allow the
feelings of the client to be ventilated especially in regards about his or her
body image as this is considered to be the most appropriate intervention.
Several interventions are possible. It depends on the cause of the Cushing's disease. If it was caused by long term use of corticosteroids then the best intervention would be to reduce and eventually stop taking the prescribed corticosteroids. If it is caused by a tumor then surgical interventions are possible or radiation treatment. Medications can be used to control cortisol production in the body. In addition counselling would be beneficial as an additional treatment to help the patient deal with any body issues arising from the condition as physically the condition causes certain characteristics that might impact on one's self esteem.
